Yes I had been told it would be around $385.00 with parts & labor. That why Im now happy there an link to buy. I can spend $99.50 then the $35.00 shipping, then I can use the other $250.00 on next addition to Jeep, frosty adult beverages, gas, or put a little into all 3 pots

Just replaced the drivers rear (left side) door regulator not 15 minutes ago- its real easy. This is the second time I've replaced this particular one! I have had a total of three reg fails!
As a friendly note: I used silicone spray instead of WD 40 on the guides and the four windows work alot smoother, less jerky than before.
Also note I paid $92 plus tax at the dealer using my daughter's friend's employee discount as she is the receptionist at the local Jeep dealer here in Avondale, Az. Man she is a cute one too! The part comes with a one year warranty from Jeep.
The point here is that is roughly the price the EBay guy is asking for this particular item (listed at $78.50 plus $15 shipping, less hassle of core shipping)
Examining the regulator it looks like it breaks right at the attachment point where the red cable comes to the sliding bracket holding the window mount. I threw away the first one being angry at it ( broke at the same spot) but I will hold on to this one and maybe take it apart to see if I can fix-- then we can have a discount rebuilt regulator exchange where L O S T members can pay say $40 plus shipping!! And then we have a good part to install and help our bretheren too!!
My Liberty is an 06 but uses the older 02-05 part #s- (thanks to Sir Sam's KJ Parts Fiche this was determined)

I have had to replace 3 regulators so far!!!!! ARGH! The 3rd one went on the way to the service center to have the second one replaced.

From an inside source at Chrysler I have learned that lubricating them with Silicone grease will reduce the chance of breakage.

Ba Humbug I am going to sue! It's a matter of principal at this point. I have an 07 and so far 3 of 4 windows have failed. It's not funny.
I'm not laughing.

Lets all sue! No class action just sue them! Time lost from work.
This is crap. Oh they are so happy to fix it, just drop the Jeep off.
Sure like I have nothing else to do but have my window regulators fixed.

Drivers side front failed during a 4X4 trip last Summer (windows were down). Only incident.

Literally 10 minutes ago my front drivers side went out. There she hangs!!!
That makes 2 rear passenger sides, and one drivers side!!!!
It was making noise yesterday, so I should have known better!!!

On a positive note, knock on wood, this has been the only issue with my lib FWIW....

Did they say how to lube? may be dumb question but to I just pull back on weather seal & apply silicone or take door skin off & do it there? Im sure the latter would be more effective but to regularly take that off... Like I said may be dumb question but what does anyone else think? I got 3 more windows I'd liketo make sure this doesn't happen to.

Nope they just said lube it, so do it with love and care.
I'm not even sure where to lube.
I asked my mechanic the one that just replaced it. He said the new part came lubed.

Lets see if we can figure this out. Everyone that has had a regulator go bad say where you are from. Maybe it happens in hot climates? Cold climates? or just anyplace?

Go figure. Bad Grease? Cheap Grease? Mopar grease? not enough grease?

Was the list of people with bad regulators ever made?

That is what this thread was supposed to be. I'm just waiting for everyone to chime in so I can print this out...and send it to Chrysler along with a letter.

I am in Irwin PA about 30 miles east of Pittsburgh. This time of year we normally got the 3 H's hazy hot & humid. This year not so bad but I'll save the weather report for another forum.

I tripped on this link, it shows how to fix the darn thing.
http://josh-n-lisa.com/2006/08/29/howto ... regulator/

Hey put me on that list!!

Publish a copy..... I have two Libbies. One here in Antigua and one in Florida. The Florida one is 2002 and has been okay the 2007 has had 3 regulators go on it so far. It's just a matter of time for the 4th.

Driver-side rear regulator went out last week on my wifes 06, out of warranty and will cost over 300 to fix.

I am going to take my good one out of my 06 with under 30k and put hers in and have it replaced UNDER WARRANTY!!

BUt I am thinking I might check out the local auto salvage and see what I can scrounge up. this blows.

Had my front and rear driver's side replaced in late 2007. Now the front one is closing really slow, so I am expecting another failure. This time out of warranty. I was in the dealership the other day and overheard a guy being quoted $450.00 to fix one of his!

How about we try to correlate data too?

I just found my wife's KJ with the rear driver side window down and I thought hmm, odd, I didn't leave it down. Sure enough the regulator just went bad.

Her KJ is black. I wonder if darker color KJ's have higher tendency to develop this problem because of increased temperature. I mean the window was HOT and so was the interior. Too hot for me to hold the window up for long.

Mine (white) never had a regulator replaced, yet.

Her KJ, on the other hand, this would make it the 3rd regulator to be replaced.

Would someone be kind enough to go over the procedure to pull the door apart to fix the regulator? I think it was someone in KJ west that posted that a while ago but I forgot who.

Maybe that thread could be made sticky ... (if it's already stickied I apologize, am running low on time since I have to leave on a plane tomorrow, good night, will take care of the problem in a week).
