Lets see if we can figure this out. Everyone that has had a regulator go bad say where you are from. Maybe it happens in hot climates? Cold climates? or just anyplace?

I think it definitely has to do with heat. All of my failures have occured on the left side, and this is the side that gets the most sun exposure due to where I park. The sun here can get pretty intense at 6000 feet.

Has everyone used the regular Jeep parts to repair, just wondering as I used to build some street rods and you can buy great power window kits that are really strong and work great. Just thinking it would be cheaper and better to retrofit something like that instead of always putting the same thing back in everytime.
I have the rear kit for a 4 door here I think ( don't think it was down in my main garage that burnt recently) will look for it and see what can be done to make this problem go away for you all!

Here's one of those wow moment ...

I just picked up a new regulator from the dealer. Went home, opened up the package and guess what? IT HAS A BUILT-IN CRACK RIGHT FROM THE FACTORY! I mean .. WTH ... this is fresh out of the box?

I had to drive back to the dealer to get another one.

Crappy quality control. I'm gonna see if it's the same piece of plastic that snapped off the one in the black KJ. If it is then it's pretty evident which piece is the weak one.

I paid cash for my Jeep shipped it to Antigua and now I get the, well just read the reply. I should bring the Jeep back? Tell me the guy isnt a wise A**.......

A Jeep outside the country is not covered under the factory warranty. If you bring the Jeep back we can fix it for you.

So I just wanted to make sure everyone knows how this dealer will respond to your request for warranty. According to the warranty manual it says if you register it then the warranty would be good. It's actually cheaper for them to send me the part since I have to pay to have it installed.
By the way bringing the Jeep back is obviously not an option. It cost about 5,000 dollars to ship it here.

Well to update my situation, My wifes liberty had the bad regulator and was out of warranty but somehow my jeep which is still under warranty went in for service to replace a bad regulator. Funny I don't recall it being bad...total cost 0$. 8)

Chrysler can bite me.

Well I bought a 2007 used jeep off the dealer lot with 20000 miles here in South Texas and the day i pick it up the rear driver side window just falls down. They say they will repair it for free but come on the first day i get this jeep and this happens. Oh well. Hopefully someone comes up with a good way to fix it. If not I will just take apart the door and put a piece of wood holding the glass up. Never use the rear windows anyway.

Below is another response from the dealership I bought my Jeep from. Once again they take the bail out. You would think I am trying to steal regulators.

"It is not a smart comment. We cannot just simply send you parts. The Jeep must be looked at by a Jeep certified tech then a request has to be sent to Chrysler for warranty repair approval. The warranty repair then needs to be performed at a certified Jeep dealership. The fact that you paid cash for the Jeep has no bearing on the situation. We would like to help you by sending you the parts but we will not be reimbursed from Chrysler Corporation. I looked at the section in the warranty booklet and it states clearly in section "C" that "you should take your vehicle to an authorized Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep dealer. They shouldgive you the same warranty service you receive in the Untied States." According to section "D" you must contact Chrysler customer service. The number for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands is (787)782-5757. I am sorry but this situation is out of our hands. I am sure Chrysler will give you a contact of a dealer in your area who will be approved to get your Jeep fixed."

Thank you again,
Jim Loucy

Since this list is going to Chrysler, here goes:
Dear sirs,
We at LOST absolutely love our Libertys. They are very capable vehicles that have taken our hearts. HOWEVER, this window regulator problem is absolutely getting ridiculous. It is not fair for us to have to keep putting money into substandard parts that are not fit to be put into a vehicle with the high quality of the jeep liberty. Please don't force us to purchase our next vehicle from another company because you cannot stand behind an obviously defective product. Please come up with a much improved product (preferably not plastic), do a recall, replace everyone's regulators regardless of vehicle year, and keep our faith and loyalty in your product that we so much enjoy.
Sincerely,
LOST member

Good luck with contacting Chrysler. Maybe they will be more receptive, however, I did try something similar late last year when my 2nd window regulator went out. They were completely unwilling to stand behind their product.

Not only that, but they also don't seem to think I have a transmission problem depite the loud clanking sounds and slow response I get from time to time when I step on the gas to go. Funny to since that IS under warranty for about another 10k miles.

Anyways - I have an 2004 - I've had the driver, passenger and rear driver's windows all go out. Total replacement cost for all three was about 1100.

I have problem with my rear passenger window, it doesn’t go down, but I believe it can go up because I see how the lights intensity go down when I press up, not the same case when I press down, the lights stay with the same intensity
Do I have a Regulator problem?

Is like the window is stuck, have not use that window in months!

Any comments

At least those of us with Libs out of warranty aren't switching out regs with someone who is under warranty and then sending that one in for warranty repair! I mean it's not like there aren't enough of us on here to communicate with other owners near us to do such a thing.

Not real sure about yours. The problem is the plastic piece, not the motor. It kinda sounds like you might have a bad motor or something is bound up in there.
