Well, far be it for me to break my arm patting myself on the back, but with the EDGE switch installed inside (finally!) to allow selecting the power range, port-matching the turbo to the exhaust flange, and the Transgo pressure-select switch, I've had to put bungee cords on the headrests to keep them from jumping outta their tracks - this ain't no mule for Sister Sarah, folks - this hoss kicks..................................

We of the Enquirer mind set appreciate pictures.
Not that you are above reproach, we just love the dirty details, in pictures.
Sounds sweet.
Since reading your and seeing the pictures of eg temperature probe install this has been thought about quite a bit.
How big did you go?
What flanges did you use?
Is it true you leave a streak of flame on the highway while on boost?

JD, where did you get those gauges?
My head is spinning at all the different gauges and combinations.
The B&M has everything at a good price but I do not like the looks.

Thinking transmission temp and egt gauges, will not likely get the big power boost 'cause the kids drive my sled.
Do not want them turning up daid in my Diesel Weasel.

Those are Pricol\Dannin guages - can get them at Geno's Garage, the TDR outlet store - sorta pricey, but was hoping they'd match the KJ instruments a little better - they are the same back-glow at nite, tho - in your case, a switch panel under the hood would prolly work like a valet switch, long as the kids didn't know where it's hidden

I would be interested in seeing your long term EGT. I think mine is running a bit on the warm side.

After warming up, I see 440 with ac on (105+ degrees ambient temp). At cruise in the summer-- 640. WOT up the hill will get to 900. This is after turbo. Always seemed warm to me (especially at idle).

What is EGT at idle, no ac, no load?

Pablo,

i see the same temps at idle and cruising. I never see WOT for extended periods tho. No big hills to play on.

I don't think it is running too hot. She seems to cool down quick enough when you get off the throttle.

When you first start it up before the engine warms, about 250, for several minutes. By the time the water temp gets warmed up fully the EGR sits at 440 in park, idling with no ac. In the winter around 380.

Are the EGTs you mention Fahrenheit or Celsius? If it's 900F, that's completely reasonable and quite normal. Go out west and run the long grade by Davis Dam, you'll see a nice 1450F which is still completely acceptable.

Drove this one today for a few minutes - idle at ~245*F cold - no ac, Neutral at each stop: EGT at ~600* @ 35-40mph, dropped to ~400* at stops, falling slowly towards 300* from there - ECT below the 1/2 mark - tc probe in exhaust manifold, pre-turbine

Temps in Fahrenheit. I was just concerned that gmtcd was reporting idle temps of 200 something F when mine are 440. Now that I see everyone reporting similar at stop lights, no worries. The most I have ever seen since install was 1150 going up a steep hill with my foot in it, and I backed off a bit at that point as I was going plenty fast.

Before I had the gauge... I am sure I took up hotter than that-- going to Flagstaff, Payson, and up through Globe to Pinetop and on the back roads, etc. Lots of places in AZ to go uphill, in the heat.

My factory ECT gauge stays a touch below dead center and always has.
