Sorry, we have to drop out. I was politely reminded by Beth of another commitment we have Sunday that had slipped my mind.

Have fun!

Count me in ! Noon meet and go time is good as I am coming form the far West Valley. I understand this to be a day thing as I have to work on Monday.
You know its gonna be hot- I hope we get a chance to jump in the lake to cool off!!

So the roster is:

1. Joe C Renegade + 1
2. corwyyn
3. Silverdiesel

Silver, Good to have you along.

It is planned to be just an afternoon/evening. I know my wife and I are hoping to jump in the water as well. I'm sure it will be plenty hot but a nice cooler full of ice and drinks should help that. I'm also planning to bring some snacks and possibly some sandwiches for lunch/dinner.

Anything else I should bring with?

Water, lots of water (couple of gallons). Always good to carry around out in the desert 8)

Other than that a care-free attitude is all you need.

Well I guess I can do 'care free' since I'm on vacation. At least as care free as 'I still have to drive my KJ home'. Ought to be a hella fun trip, see you guys in a couple days

Ohhhh you have no idea 8) We just got hit with what they are saying was the worst monsoon storm in 12-15 years (depending on who you talk to). In my neighborhood in central Tempe there are LARGE tree laying over on homes, apartments, car canopies, etc. Two of the four-plex buildings in my neighborhood lost the roofing material  Highest winds recorded at Sky Harbor airport last night were 75mph, and some places in the valley got over two inches of rain in a couple of hours. The area we are planning on being in Sunday is probably getting a nice makeover - ruts, rocks and just general landscaping. Should be interesting

Kevin, what ham repeater and/or simplex frequencies will you be monitoring out at the Roles on Sunday? - Tom

I'll be on 146.56 simplex, and should be listening to the Shaw Butte/Mt Ord link. Shaw Butte is 147.24, + offset, Mt Ord is 146.92, - offset. Both use a 162.2 tone. Not too sure on the connection to Shaw Butte from out there but it's a clear line of sight to the Mt. Ord repeater.

Okay guys... we're waiting on the pics.

We live just off Ellsworth Rd and on the way home we saw a few Jeeps and other 4x4's going south. They all had mud on them, so I'm guessing they were heading home from the Rolls.

I need to see some dirty Liberty's!!!!

Since you asked so nicely AJ, here ya go.

It wasn't really messy out there, which was surprising considering all the rain we've gotten the past few days. It was dry enough that we didn't get a lot of mud but damp enough that the dust was down (which I know Tom enjoyed since he was playing tailgunner).

And since he kept wondering, yes Roland you got a tire in the air (on several occasions actually):

Didn't get any pics when we were at cove two - I was too busy enjoying the water 8)

Wow, nice little trip. My Jeep was on 4 jack stands... where it still is (but at least is back together).

We got a few shots that I'll try to post after we get back from vacation as well. Just wanted to say thanks to everybody for coming out and breaking my 4x4 cherry. I'm addicted now, so thanks Tom, Roland, and Kevin for the great trip. I never would've believed a little KJ is so capable had I not seen and done it myself. :o 8)

Sorry for late timeliness to post but got busy.
My copilot is my oldest daughter, Allie and she had a blast riding along. She is now hooked on offroading but struggles as to an appropriate vehicle to own for herself. She listens to Dad and would love a durable 4WD SUV but is limited to few choices as she knows it has to be a diesel. Other than Liberty, Mercedes is the only other choice and those are very expensive! With all the necessary mods from fuel management to "weak" transmissions, to CCV,EGR,ACV, emissions issues and I can go on for a while, she may wait to see what develops as new diesel models in the near future.
She took the pics and I will dabble to post 'em shortly.
I had a blast. I really need to do a lift but I am torn as stock height will get me better mileage. I'm not fibbing when I had a 33 MPG result on a trip recently to Prescott! I am still considering a mild lift as this Jeep is my DD. But do not get me wrong, wheeling with this thing is alot of fun and exciting!
Thanks very much Kevin, Mike and Iowa Joe for your company, spotting and support! I have never been to the"Rolls" before and Kevin as "trailboss" made it that much more enjoyable and fun.

Signcutter21 said he heard somebody say "had no idea these Liberties are sooo capable!" at FITSIII. That was me!! Now Joe says the same!
What a great truck and what a great group, LOST!!

Roland
