This has probably already been addressed before, but I'm new to this forum and can't find much archive. The problem I'm having is that more than half the time my key won't unlock the rear gate. The remote or the door lock switch works every time, but not the key? I tried taking off the small plastic square on the back to see if I could see anything, but all I see is insulation and a thick sheet of rubber. Anyone see a TSB on this or have some advice?

There was a recall on the rear gate switch. You might want to check with your dealer to see if the recall work has been done. Also, I believe there is a section on Jeep's website where you can plug in your VIN and see what recalls are in effect for your Libby.

I would probally look at the key cylinder first. If it always works with the remote or switch but not with the key then more than likley you have an internal defect in the key cylinder. And FYI the swinggate recall was for water getting down inside the door and corroding the flipper glass switch and it would sometimes just pop open at random. They have a revised switch for it but if you haven't had it done just take some rtv sealant and seal the switch.

Thanks for the info, I did already check on the recalls. That's the first thing I did when I got the Liberty back in March. The key cylinder is probably a good bet ... I also notice the other day that when I put my key in the whole cylinder pushed back about a quarter inch. I don't know if that's commom, but it sure doesn't seem right. I'm thinking just get a second remote for my key chain as a temp/cheap fix.
