[quote="dog_party"]I agree with the above comment, but not all of them went on vacation. Some of them sat in a darkened room and protested. Not saying that it will do anything, but thought it warranted mentioning (since I don't see the reports on most major new stations).

I doubt that either of us is surprised that the event on Capitol Hill was under reported. The limitations placed on drilling refining and nuclear electricity in the U.S. have been amazing.

Hurricanes have now blown away and the oil prices are down to $107 a barrel. Gas and diesel prices in Denmark are going down as well.

Pricing is back to the level from the spring.

Happy days ;)

In south kansas city on the missouri side I have seen$3.89. Taxes in the rural counties are lower and because they are outside the metro area they do not have to use the more expensive blend that they use in the city because of EPA mandates that only pertains to unleaded gas though.

Like I said, enjoy it while it lasts. Even if the price of oil free-falls back to $70/barrel, you're still talking mid $2/gallon range for gas and around $3/gallon for diesel by my estimation.

On Monday morning, they opened up electronic trading at 2:30 AM EDT to allow the big players to dump their long positions in oil futures after seeing that Gustav had fizzled. That's totally unprecedented, IMHO amounts to insider trading, and before the laws governing trading were changed in the last few years, would have been completely illegal and guaranteed jail terms for those involved.

Bottom line - unless and until some form of sane regulations and energy policy are put back into place, there's nothing to prevent what we've went thru the past 2 years from happening again.

Lowest price for D2 as of Sunday here was 4.03.

Change 1 Rev 1 - went uptown to run some errands, as I went by the lowest station it was still 4.03. 45 minutes later, I came back by and stopped to fill up, price had dropped to 3.95.

Last time I filled this beast up (mid-July), price was 4.80.

NICE!

I'd say they are dumping the prices as fast as possible to help placate the great unwashed, so that the voting will decide on 4 more years of the same buttsecks from the oil barons.

Same crap they pull every election year.

I wonder if we can rack up as many pages talking about falling prices as we did rising. I am preparing my aluminum foil hat for what I am sure is to come.

I am the guilty one! How dare you call me down! I have to justify buying a BioPro processor, so if I join the negative crowd and wallow myself with high diesel prices, then it makes me feel good inside. If I join your bandwagon and give praise for the relief, then I would have to question my motives to purchase the BioPro and make biodiesel. On a more serious note, I agree that people (including myself) tend to surround themselves with a doomsday attitude towards the future of diesel. I have grown to realize that making biofuel is a way of life, not necessarily a reflection of fuel prices.

We drove the Dodge 3500 CTD from Indiana to New Bern, NC this week to visit our daughter and family. (Got here just in time to observe Hurricane Hanna!) Diesel has been 4.19-4.49 most of the way. There's a station here in New Bern that is at 3.99. All others that I have noticed have been at 4.19.

Mugging victims are another bunch of whiners. They rarely thank the attacker for each kick or punch that wasn't as hard as the one before.
