In the process of rigging up my CRD for towing (no factory package on it) for the possible move to Texas, I found out one interesting item.

It looks as though back in November of 07, the design of the HiddenHitch 87006 was changed such that it is now the identical twin to the DrawTite 75128. Common installation drawing for both model hitches is dated 11/26/07, lists both model numbers, same drawing, same ratings, same fastener kit.

I can personally verify that, as this weekend I went to a local dealer and purchased one of the new design 87006 - it is the same as the 75128 - and it is now currently residing under the back end of my CRD.

It has the same extra length on the receiver tube as the 75128. With my father's 10 1/2" length ball mount (pin hole to ball hole), the ball clears the back edge of the spare tire.

Now I just have to finish installing the Mopar wiring harnesses. :?

Just changed out my factory hitch with a draw-tite 75128. Removed the 7 pin housing and welded it to the new hitch. Jack stands and floor jack aid greatly. Anybody need a factory hitch for free? It's yours if you want to pick it up.

Is the weight rating higher? In other words, why?

If you flip the tire mount you will gain a few more inches. I'm glad that I flipped mine.

Rotate 180deg would seem better than flip - flip would be wheel-side is bolted to the body, wheel now mounts to side that had been attached to the body - had me going for a bit, there.....................
