Heard some strange knock today on the driver side front. Stopped to take a look and the upper ball joint is coming out from my upper A-Arm. I've got Al's Generation 3 upper control arms. It has worked its way up about 3/8ths of an inch.

darn, what to do now?

Can I just press it back in? I'm thinking not.
Can I put a new ball joint in the existing A-Arm? I'm thinking if this one worked out, why wouldn't the next one.

Taking all suggestions. I'm contemplating going back to stock upper A-Arms.

Background: I've got the Frankenlift II on a 2006 CRD

Thanks.

Easy solution....contact Marlin and tell him what is going on, he will help you out I am sure!
I think there were a few or someone at least that it happened to before, but can you remove it and see if its stripped out in there or what??
But again contact Marlin, hes a great guy to deal with

There are 3 people, .... well 4 that I trust with regards to KJs and getting help with what they sell
Marlin at JeepinbyAls
Marty at Rock Lizard
Heather and Quinn at All Js

and well me

I thought that generation of Al's arms used a screw in ball joint and bung.

I had that happen to my Gen II arms.
I'm pretty sure he is still using screw in ball joints.
Check the thread and if it's ok, screw it back down. I had JJ'sKJ put a small weld spot on it so that it won't work it's way loose again.

Yeah, contact Marlin. He's been pretty good about replacing defective older generation a-arms with the new 4.5s.

Man, I feel a little embarrassed not knowing the ball joints are threaded. Thanks to all for the information.
I'll give Marlin a call tomorrow and double check.
Hopefully it is as easy as turning them back down and torquing them if necessary. I've got the ability to put a retainer weld on if needed.

I'm really glad to hear they are not just pressed in, if the threads are bad, then I'll have a decision point to work from regarding replacement.

Again, thanks for the input.
