Nope, don't really need anything. Just bring enough of drinks for yourselves, and anything you may want to snack on. I have enough tools, but an extra set of metric 1/2" sockets would be helpful. Again please make sure you mark your tools. Electric tape around them, something like that. This way they don't migrate into the my tool boxes!

Looking forward in helping all of you obtain higher attitudes!

Al

hey al, quick question, will the stock shocks work with the frankenlift temporarily until i can get the rear shocks and bump stops installed locally??? That is assuming that my mom can't pick up the box from UPS tomorrow...

Oh and i'll take care of the 1/2" drive sockets, i've got a whole set...see everyone there on Sunday, whick is officially tomorrow now :D

Thanks,
-Savage-

Yes, stock shocks will work for a while, but you won't get all the flex and travel your lift deserves. But for a few days or so, no harm. Good idea, actually.

I've been watching your thread. You're close enough to where I was thinking about coming just to meet up with everyone, but too far that I can't just pop by. (I'm at least 2 hours away).

So I've been reading.

Enjoy. May the warmth of the sun be with you all. 8)

Adam, thanks for the info, i'll be making a two hour treck even from inside the Jersey State, but it'll go by like a 5 min. car ride, I LOVE MY KJ!!!

Look forward to seeing everyone there.

I hear ya. If I didn't already have a lift installed, I'd also be running over there. Next week, if timing works out, I'll be getting my ARB painted and installed, along with a few other goodies. Only it's being done the old fashioned way... paying someone else to do it. What can I say, as you get older, the threshold of when to do and when to pay keeps moving up (fortunately). (Especially as the temp drops!)

Have fun folks!

The rear shocks will be fine, if you trail riding you will notice the limitations of the shorter shocks.

Adam, its a easy ride, but you are correct, anyhting east of Smithtown is an hour plus into the GWB, than about an hour out to exit 4 on Rt.80.

I'm so happy I got my lift on, drove threw/over a few snow banks on the way home, I also passed a KJ with a roof rack.

Hey, Guys Just got home 10:15PM. What a long day. I want to thank everyone again. Especially Al. I couldn't have been done it with out you all.

The jeep is running and looking great. I hardly noticed any difference in the way she drives. Will have to be aligned ASAP though. Once I un-loaded all the tools, heaters, old springs and other crap. The rear now looks about 1.5 to 2" taller than the front. :D

Now I can't wait till the tires go on. Tuesday seams so long away. I may have to call in sick tomorrow. To get this taken care of. Then I will have Tuesday to go wheeling.

Ok Guys, you really worked me Sunday. I needed to take off Monday to nurse my cold and really sore muscles! I am starting to feel my 48 years!

So three lifts, and one gas tank skid, what a day. Two frankenlifts (one Diesel), and one Rusty's. WOW did those boys look good driving away.

The Frankenlift went in just as the others, the front took up most of the time. That's a nice lift. They are fairly easy to install. I think everyone that showed were quite surprised that we didn't really follow the installation instructions. I take some short cuts!

We started at around 9:30 (I started around 7:30 in 10 degree weather), and ended around 6:00. After putting everything back in their parking spaces, cleaning the garage I didn't get in the house until 7:30! Got to love those 12 hour days of rest!

I hope I was able to impart some of my knowledge to you, and you went away satisfied with the work you were able to do!

Thanks for coming up!

Al

Thanks to you for hosting, Al (maybe you should go by "Clevis King" since I think you assisted on every one!) Nice meeting the rest of the group too. Enjoy the lifts, I know I'll get good use outta the skid considering my KJ isnt as tall and all grown up as the ones we lifted!

^^^^^^^^What he said^^^^^^^^

My thanks to you Al for all that you did, couldn't have done it w/o you. Oh yea, and nice garage. I need to put one of those in my backyard, don't think my mom would approve though  The Frankenlift is working out great still, the shocks came in this past monday and i still need to throw them in as well. Still have to get an alignment and the front end re-torqued, but all of that will come in time. Went out last night and shrink-wrapped all the connections for my Hellas and got them reassmbled. Are you still standing by your conclusion that the Daystar bump stops aren't really needed Al? or is it a good idea to throw them in just in case? Thanks again I had a great time and it was nice to meet everyone face-to-face.

The front bump stops are needed, the rear, for me are optional. With out them you have more flex, but up run the risk of marking up the inner fender wells with the tire, and possibly over stressing the upper rear ball joint. I have seen dozens of Rusty's lifts with out them, and no problems yet, except for some tire marks on the plastic frender liners above the shock mounts.

Am I supposed to have a bump stop back there? hmm. I get good flex and stuffing. I got lots of scuff marks (which don't bother me). I wonder if I have the bump stops. Where are they mounted?

They mount on the bottom of the spring perch, or if you have them, ontop of the spring isolaters.
