Yes you have to have the permit and they only sell yearly permits for some reason. The majority of the people that use the area are people going out fishing. The permit costs $90 for a day permit (6am-12PM) or $110 for the 24 hour pass. You have to have a shovel, boards to put under your tires in case you get stuck, a jack that will lift your tire at least 1 foot out of the sand, a tire pressure guage and a tow strap. If they stop you on the beach and ask to see the items and you dont have any, you can get fined for each item you are missing.
mandatory equipment..yeah thats the way it is in jersey too..except 195 will get ya a yearly permit and there's a lot more shmucks on the beach! great shots btw!...was that an entrance trail u were on or was it a restricted trail?
