Add me to the list. 2002 Sport model. Rear drivers window failed yesterday.

Now maybe I can fix the OTHER problem I have too. Both of my rear door lock actuators have failed, as well as the actuator on the rear swing gate!

It may be to late but my rear driver window went out also. It was making noise the last time I used it 5 days earlier.

My Passenger side front window broke the steel jacketed cable that actuates it. When I went to roll the window down, I heard the motor running but nothing happened so I stopped, then the window dropped halfway. When I tried to roll it back up the armored cable popped up between the rubber seal and the window. '02 w/87000 miles so no warranty. I had a shop repair it for me, cost $178.00 installed

Two windows within two months on 06. Front passenger and back driver side, just fell without being used. First one under warranty and second at 37k. Seems with so many problems with the 05+, they should consider a recall.

The regulator needs to be redesigned. The current design is cheap but is prone to a few failure modes. A slightly more complex design with geared rail and mobile motor could work better (the motor is stationary in current design).

Anybody up to the challenge? :)

All this talk scares me that I'm going to be next!

Sucks that the part is so darn expensive too! They could at least crank out a bunch and start selling them cheaper if it's such a big issue!

They wouldn't do anything even with all the stuff I sent in. They know it's junk and just don't care as far as I can tell.

My driver rear bit the dust.

Anybody replace one of these? I can't get the window pulled off the regulator itself. It looks nice and easy when I look at the part laying here in my driveway all nice and neat, but dambit, I just can't get the stupid thing off.

BTW, '02, 116k miles. First one. Looks like the cable detached itself from the regulator itself.

2004 Sport, drivers side front went about 6 months ago, still haven't fixed it. It goes up no problem, but to put it down, it needs help. I was at the drive through when it happened. Went to put the window down, heard a snap, and the cable came up between the window and door panel. Dealer wanted over $400 to fix (told him where to go). I took it apart, and there is a white plastic sleeve that goes around the cable. This is what broke (split right in half). Been dealing with it this long, will wait until I have some extra to buy the part and change myself.

Here are JJ's detailed instructions (w/pics). http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=22718

I'm surprised no one found this one yet!

My cable came out of the window lift itself. the plastic tube was fine and dandy and just kinda chillin', yo.

BTW, I got it replaced like 10 minutes after I posted, but thanks for the link!

I replaced the passenger rear today. As an fyi for those who don't want to try the repair yourself or pay a dealership price...check your local auto glass places. They are far cheaper. Also...a friend of mine works for Cindy Rowe auto glass. He says he can get aftermarkets that are identical to the "good" regulators from the earlier years.

My 2007 sport gets the driver side replaced under warranty on Tuesday. The passenger side was done this past summer. Only took about a half dozen visits to the dealer. Bothe my front window kept binding up on the way up. They finally told me that they wanted to try everything else before they put in a 5oo dollar window regulator. There is a TSB on the window channels that they did then on other visits they would just grease the channels and that would be good for about a month and I would have to go on again.

150 is retail

mine was $115 after taxes and such, because of fantastic work-related liaisons.

I certainly hope an aftermarket version comes out soon. I certainly don't want to spend $100+ every freakin time one dies. F that!
