Hello all. Just wanted to introduce myself as I have been only a reader of this board for the last year. 2006 Lib CRD w/ 25k miles threw codes P0069 and PO101. From reading this forum I know that these are related to the MAP and the MAF. I am guessing an EGR problem as the codes are only thrown when I am idling (usually in gear) after driving it for a while. I dropped it off at the dealer today and I will see what they say but I am hoping for some of you smart guys to give me some clues so I can talk intelligently with them today...Although I am not optimistic they will find anything as the service writer actually told me that it might just need a tune-up and maybe some new spark plugs.


Thanks to the data gathered at this forum over the past year I have also made an appointment at a diesel transmission shop on July 14th to have a Suncoast put in, Transgo shiftkit and the heavy duty clutch packs for the transmission itself installed. Looking forward to getting this great vehicle running the way it should have to begin with.

I didn't see an emoticon, but I hope that was a joke. If the service writer mentioned spark plugs (or really a tune-up) on a CRD, then you need to immediately request a new writer...

Are you having any drive-ability issues, or just the CEL on the dash?

No driveability issues....it seems to be running great except that it might be idling a little rougher. I am not sure though as a CEL always makes me hypersensitive and I start hearing noises and noticing things that have probably been there all along when it comes up.

I wish I was joking about the service writer but I am not. 1400 Motors in Nashua, NH. I will see what they find today but I just located a Sprinter dealership up in Manchester, NH. A little more of a hike for me but it may be worth it.

On the drive over to the new place, you may want to disconnect the MAF (top of the airbox) sensor and see if anything changes. It'll throw a code, but if there are issues being caused by an EGR on its last legs, that might isolate it. You'll be able to tell if it starts idling smoother.

Ok, I got it back from the dealer and I need some help deciphering the tech's notes. He had left for the day already. The codes he fetched from it were P0235, P0101 and P0110 and P0235. It states he replaced the MAP sensor, intake temp sensor and a boost PSI sensor. MOPAR part numbers are:

68031593AA
56044591AA
53013733AB

Now I am no diesel mechanic but I think the chances of 3 sensors dying at the same time are pretty remote unless the jeep got hit by a lightning bolt. Am I right in thinking that these guys are just shooting in the dark here? Am I also right in thinking that the only thing that would cause these 3 sensors to not be reporting the correct data would be an EGR problem?

Shooting in the dark is standard for Jeep Diesel mechanics - I think they had a 1 hour videotape on the CRD and that was at least 2 years ago.
The Sprinter guys are much more likely to have a clue.

I should also note that the parts fiche shows the MAP and the MAF switched. The parts are correctly numbered, balloned, and drawn, but are shown in the incorrect positions.

I bet thats why bill barg got the MAF when he wanted to get a MAP.

Thanks for the info. I double checked that part number for the 2008KK and that is definitely the part number on the workorder. It is listed as "SENSOR AIR TEM". Maybe he just typoed the part number on the form.

In any case maybe one of the 3 sensors replaced was faulty and this problem will be put to bed...I have a sneaking suspicion that I will be heading up to the sprinter dealership however. Thanks for all the help everybody.

If it helps you any, I have had good luck with the service dept at Mariano Jeep in Concord. They are also a dodge dealer and deal with diesels. I have had little to no problems with mine, but I never had to bring it in a second time for a repair they did, but as I said I have never had a major issue that needed a "real" mechanic

I have not had the CEL come back on since they replaced the above mentioned parts. I guess one of them was faulty afterall!

I also now have had the TransGo ShiftKit (minus the resistor), Suncoast TC, new PML deep tranny pan w/temp sensor, new transmission fluid pump and the Suncoast heavy duty powerpack for the 545RFE installed for almost 2 months. The shudder I used to get while towing when right at the edge of TC lockup (especially when working it hard going up hill) is now 100% gone. The lower stall speed seems to make a big difference. When I let off the brake at a stop light the vehicle "rolls" forward with a lot more power and speed on its own now.

Above work cost me $2,800. So far I am very satisfied.

Now you'll need to learn to put it in Neutral at every extended stop, as that tendency to roll forward consumes extra fuel when not allowed to roll forward, plus increases transmission fluid temperature, particularly in the summer months - now you got all the good stuff, we just need to finger out how to improve TCM control so you can take full advantage of it.

I became aware of the advantage of going to neutral at a stop by watching fuel consumption in gpm's on the scangaugeII, going to neutral cuts fuel consumption by at least 1/3 when stopped. I got the scangaugeII to use on my Escape but have learned several things from the short periods it will work on the CRD.
