okay everyone, i'm tryign to figure out what in the world can be done to add some "padding" to our stock seats. my g/f just bought a new 08 saturn vue, and her seats are firmer but more cushy at the same time. i know, my kj is an 05, but my seats were never as comfortable as hers.

so i guess my question is, is it possible to take off the front seats, put on some new foamy stuff and then put them back all on my own???

or

should i seek a professional for the job?

See if you can find 02-04 Seats, they're so much better once broken in than my dad's 06's w/ no low back to them

The seats in Limited, Rennie, RME, etc models are faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar better than the Sport seats.

Just snag some out of one of those.

I'm not a fan of the ones in my '06 Limited either.

I don't think the seats in the Liberty were ever really comfortable. You would have to recut (foam) and reskin if you were really looking to add some cushion to the seats.

The seats in the 02-04's are much more comfortable and should swap right out with the seats from the 05-07's.

They changed to seats in 05 by taking out some of the padding so that the rear seats would fold flatter. I guess they figured that the front seats needed less padding to match the rear.

I drive an 04 and last year I worked for the federal govenment and drove an 05 Liberty as a government vehicle. There was no comparison, my 04 was much more comfortable.

I agree, my 04s are better than Sean150s (his is 06?) I have driven mine straight through from Toledo to Boston and Toledo to Orlando and never had a butt/back problem

Agree also. My daughter's 03 Limited seats are great compared to my 05 Limited seats. If she wouldn't know any better I would swap them but she already said "No, Dad". When she gets around to trading it in, Then I get the seats!

I don't think Jeep are reknowned for their comfort factor. Built more for ability
I think all Jeep's lack support in the seats.
Maybe swap the seat out for a recaro or something?

In my Limited I raise the front of the seat to give my thighs a bit more support ( power seats, you know!!)

Have you considered borrowing (steal) a cushion from the house?

The seat covers that I mentioned in this thread: http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... hp?t=36489 They add about 3/8 more padding to the seats, and they helped a little in my 07 Sport. Maybe that is an option.

my '03 renegade seats are leather and very broken in.. previous owner seemed to be on the heavier side, so the cushion has been eh..thoroughly flexed ;) super comfy! except for the leather "slide factor" ..might get a thin seat cover to alleviate this.

Something to keep in mind, I kow my '05 has a sensors in the passenger seat for the front air bag. The owner's manual even worns about aftermarket seat covers and what they can do to the weight sensors.

I'm not sure if this would complicate anything, but I figured I'd throw it out there.
