so if I don't pay I shouldn't be allowed to comment on the problems of the site? or maybe I shouldn't even be allowed to be on the site? Maybe this place is more of an elitist group than I thought....I hope not. :(

I do remember buying 3 of YOUR air filters a while back. might be the last time too.

Comment all ya want, I'll keep laughing.

Lets see, Free forum, Unpaid volunteer admins and mods and you want to hassle them for not replying in a thread? :?
I thank you for buying air filters from me but threats to not do so in the future don't bother me at all seeing how little I make supplying them at cost and that I do this for kicks, not income.
I contribute to the forum and LOST in a multitude of ways including being a paid lifetime member. The $$ goes to keep this place on the net. What have You done to help?

BTW, I am only teasing and really couldn't care about all this e-drama crap. This is such a small slice of life that is really insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Cheers. :P

my Grandmother always said that as you get older you can say and get by with more and more of what you had always wanted to say and do, but could not.

now back to our regular programing discussing why things are so slow in our perfect world

Not hassling anybody about not replying. Just wondering what is wrong with the site and not just for me but many others have commented too (I am sure some of them are Paying members). It would be nice if somebody could give us some official info besides "everybody needs to delete all your PM messages".

Like you, I will agree that this is too small an issue to continue so lets lock it down!

Now that there is probably the best thing to do - give the computers some time to cool down and then they should be back up to speed

Well that was a very professional response from an Admin. Why the veiled threat? I have done nothing wrong here but ask a question about a connection issue. Nor have I ever caused any sort of problem on this site (other than offending TomMudd once! ) And to think I just paid my membership this morning too.

Now, back to the original topic. Can you tell us why the site lags so from time to time?

As in a technical reason? - I know pm's can use space - but they're Text and maybe a link - thats not a lot of electrons.

- I do note that we're up to 6593 members - but neither 'Madonna' nor 'famous-blonde-pornstars' seems to have posted anything - so they're not using a lot of server space (although Admin time in sorting out the Jeep folks is a different issue)

Basically - other than cleaning out PMs - is there anything we can do to fix this?

Bottom line is the admins have a ton of stuff to do on here because idiots like "famous blonde pornstars" get on and try to spam. Tons upon tons of people try and get accounts like those and they have to be individually taken care of. The admins don't always feel like getting on here and saying "Yes, the site is slow, someone is working on it. Be patient and it will be fixed."

Remember this is an internet site and because of that we unfortunately, and fortunately in some case, don't get to speak face to face. It is hard to tell if someone is joking, kidding, being sarcastic or just being a jerk. So take everything you see on here with a grain of salt. If you feel seriously offended, PM the person and work it out or just let it go.

And I have no idea why the site is slow.

Clean out your PMs.

I hate to say this

But if you have nothing better to do on this site aside from complain about how slow it is....

Maybe you should be doing something more productive?

Remember back a few years when there was no e-mail or internet and you actually had to do work while at work?

Okay I guess my thought train is more like

1) identify problem
2) analyze causes
3) identify solutions
4) implement solutions

and I think we're stuck on 1 - we probably need a database/ IT type person to identify the root cause.
and the solutions will probably involve raising some money for something, unless the solution is 'live with it'.
