Couple of things I've noticed, am I the only one?

Occasionally at low speeds, when I go to shift from 1st to 2nd, or simply coast around in neutral from 1st gear... the RPM's will 'hang' around 2,000 RPM. If I put it in 2nd and let the clutch up a bit to put a load on the engine, it acts normal. It's happened probably 5-6 times, and I've got 13,000 miles on my KK. It's not temperature related, it's happened on both a cold and fully heated up engine.

Also, does anybody else's center console creak? It seems that when in first gear, the shifter boot is pulled too tight, which over time has probably loosened the chrome trim. I've noticed at various speeds (certain vibrations) the center console creeks/rattles, and if I put my hand on the chrome trim it goes away.

I think you will see some of the issues mentioned in any manual shift vehicle. Low speeds can be a bit unpredictable, sometimes you will get an extra 'bucking' out of the vehicle at low speeds. But I am not sure why you would ever be coasting in neutral, especially at low speeds. I have never owned a automatic car in my life (11 years of driving), and I find that the first gear of the Lib is very stable. It is the only car I have ever owned that you can put in first gear and take your foot off the gas without stalling, just a steady slow creep. I really love the six speed in the lib.

I do not have creaking in my center console.

Example of why I would be coasting in neutral (or still in 1st with clutch depressed)... Going thru a parking lot and coming up to the exit, I put it in neutral and roll up to the stop. Situations like that I will very occasionally 'stick' at 2,000rpm or so.

My 5-speed Blazer used to do the same thing, but more often.

I'm like you, I hate automatic transmissions. I'm planning a 5-speed swap into my 69 Cutlass as well, which I've already put a 200-4R overdrive (automatic) into temporarily. Gotta have overdrive with 3.90 gears!

I never really noticed this, but today I was paying attention. When I shift the tach does hang at the higher RPMs for a second, then drop. I was pretty sure that I heard the engine RPMs dropping before the tach. I am using synthetic oil, so maybe that could have something to do with it.

No console squeak from mine, but I have a Sport model, so very little chrome inside or out. Just how I like it.

Automatic transmissions are evil. Let the flames begin.

Just remember all your guages in your KK(or KJ) is only a relitive reading and may/may not be the actual value beside the speedo(and that's even debateable).Also you got to remember that the '07 KJ's and all the KK's have the "drive by wire" throttle,no cable between the foot pedal and throttlebody,you guys have a electric motor and wires for your throttle and that is most likely your whole problem,it could be a programming error or they way it was designed to be.

I am assuming the electronics will do what they want to do and we are just along for the ride. No matter, I really enjoy driving my KJ and this is one of the best riding manual transmission vehicles I have ever driven. I will happily put up with the few quirks it has. It is one of the few vehicles that I look forward to getting into and driving.

My RPM stays up for a split second or so after a shift too, all the time. The engine just doesn't rev down quickly. I think it's programmed in that way to help RPM matching, for smoother shifting. But occasionally, it will stay at or above 2,000rpm. Like I said, only happened a few times... nothing I'm concerned about and happy to put up with it for the 6-speed in general.

As for the squeaks, I may have to pull the console out and put some felt on the plastic to plastic contact points. Did that to my Blazer too, with great results.
