Is there a reason everybody uses 1/2" square tubing to connect the rock rails to the pinch weld? Why not just use a piece of angle?

Not everyone uses 1/2" tubing.Squire stock is stronger(by it's shape) and spreads the force of a impact over a greater area then angle would.
