was it the wcm?

Yes it is the WCM.

There is actually a tech service bulletin out on this problem:

TSB No.:08-007-08 NHTSA No.:10024966 TSB Date:March 4, 2008 Date Added to File:June 11, 2008
Failing Component:
Engine And Engine Cooling:Engine
Summary:
No engine crank or no engine start due to electronic lockup of the wcm/skreem.

I know about the TSB,I gave it to the dealer, and thats when they told me I had to break down to do the TSB.Not a good way to run a business.

Does anyone have a copy of the complete TSB? Digger?

go to the top of this page and click on team forum index.the look for KJ/KKdiscussion area, scroll down to KK tech section 2008+,and youll see all TSBs,thanks goes to digger for the great thread.

The saga continues.......Thursday, on my day off, Jeep dealer is replacing the seal around the back window. Finally had to show them the TSB for this fix, because they "could not duplicate" the leak and said nothing was wrong. Also, my clicking steering wheel when I turn it left or right....they said they "could not duplicate it" and now it's louder then it was before. So this time when I take them for a little ride they can't deny that they don't hear it!!
I have had this Jeep in the shop every day I've had off for the past month now with them fixing something on it. :x :x :x I so love this Jeep, but I think if it has any more issues I'm going to trade it in.

Go find a used KJ, mines an 04 with over 112,000 and has never been inside a dealership and only into a repair shop to be aligned three times!
But seriously
Hang in there someday you will have it all repaired and then no more problems!!! When I worked in dealerships I hated new models, always a ton of problems until they have been out a few years

I will hang in there!! I've enjoyed my Jeep otherwise. I always get compliments on it. Yesterday was beautiful here with temps in the mid 70's (right before the snow starts to fly!), and I had the skyslider opened , and all I wanted to do was keep driving it all day!!!!! I'm just venting I guess....hopefully all the things will finally be fixed on it.

Hey silverfox, I took mine in for the clicking when turning and it ended up the steering column was catching on the rubber gromet in the fire wall. Btw the a/c reflash is awesome.

I finally got my Liberty back from the no start.I'm like you,I'm not happy with all the problems I had so far. They still can't fix my door panel,so that probably won't get fixed. It has a small panel were the door handle is,and the panel is bowed out. They put on three panels, and they all did the same thing. If you realy like your Liberty,I would go to the GM of your dealer, show him all the problems you have had,and ask if you can have a buy back.Tell them you would like to get a 09 Liberty after the buy back.I had a buy back in 01 because I had so much problems, they couldn't fix my car. That was with Chrysler. You do seem to have alot of problems, and I think they owe you.Good Luck

What might be so different with the 2009 ones????? I just think the build quality isn't there, unfortunately. They have a nice looking product and no quality behind it.... :( :( :(

Silverfox . . . we all realize that you are displeased with your vehicle, and while some of your rants are informative, ones like this are specultive. Remember that you are preaching to a group of people who just spent alot of money on this car. You are basically telling us all what a crap car we have. I find that a bit annoying. It sounds to me like you would be better off with something like a Murano or Escalade or something more suburbanite oriented. From someone who has had many Jeeps in the family, they are prone to an occasional rattle, they are not meant to be luxury rides, and they are generally nice vehicles. Please please slow down this thread. I think some of your problems are legit, and others are knit picking, and your thread gets on my nerves sometimes. Just my opinion, take it for what its worth. I don't mean this as a personal attack or anything, but I am tired of seeing your thread on top with a new rant about how crappy my brand new car is. I have had no problems, I love the car, and am pleased with my investment. I admit there has been occasional good information in this thread, but we could definitely trim the fat.

Silver fox, I have had mine for almost a year and have been off-roading, driven to the high arctic, driven it to the ski hill 40 times, with lots more off-roading...I have 20000km on it and I have not had a single problem with it, it is a great jeep, with GREAT quality. You bought yours used, and boy was it "used" in the jeep commercials, only god knows what they did to it in the short time they had it. Before I heard about your jeep, I had assumed they scrapped all of the "movie star jeeps" Im sorry that your having a bad experience, but many many people are having nothing but a good one.

Good luck with your problems... IMO you should have never have bought a jeep that was used for an "off-road" commericial. :)

If you dislike the thread stay off it.

Silverfox can rant all she wants as long as it doesn't attack anyone and isn't political, religious or spam. If you don't like it don't ask her to change. If no one responds then the thread will go away and that would be the best way for you to show your disdain for it-ignore it.

Silverfox-they made alot of improvements on the 09s because they knew they screwed up.The 09 has better suspension, better interior, better axles.I wish I had a 09 after having some problems with mine.
I agree with you, they could have built a better vehicle then they did.I been a Mopar person for lot of years, and can see Chrysler needs improvements.Could be why they are in trouble.

What improvements did they make on the suspension and axle's? What did they change in the interior, other than the color of the seats, and those mood lights????? :? :? :?

They changed the shocks, springs, bigger axles, better interior upgrade with the seats, steering gear, brakes. As you can see they made alot of improvement for a vehicle out for one year tells me they didnt do their homework with the 08 Liberty.I wish I didnt buy my 08 Liberty with the problems I had with mine.Poor workmanship.

Its one thing to say WHAT they changed, and its another to say HOW each one changed. All you wrote was a bunch of words on a screen. Where are you even getting this information??? This is the first time I have heard of these so called "improvements"

Go to allpar.com and you can get any info you want on Mopars .Did you think I made this up?I was a mechanic for 25 years,I think I know poor workmanship. If there is that many changes in one year,it doesn't say much for the 08 Liberty, which so far I am not happy with it.Then when it breaks down, and there is no part in town,it takes 5 days to fix one problem, thats poor management. Before this Liberty I had a 03 Mazda Tribute for 5 years,it didnt have one problem. With this Liberty, the shuttle driver knows where I live without directions.I agree with Silverfox,if you have a problem, let others know whats goin on.Thats one of the purpose of these forums.

Rants????? I "just spent alot of money on this car" too!!!! Almost $30,000 worth, and I expect quite a bit for $30,000. I was not looking for a "luxury ride" vehicle. I picked the Jeep because of its ruggedness, and that's what I love about it. I still question the build quality of MY JEEP...the back window leaking water down the inside, the passenger seat having a broken seat frame all of a sudden, a clicking steering wheel when turned that is getting louder and louder, a Skyslider roof that is not closing/sealing properly. To me those are build quality issues that should NOT happen. Maybe one of those things....but not THAT many issues.
I'm not talking about YOUR Jeep, I'm talking about MY Jeep. I wish I had been lucky enough to have bought one like yours. I'm delighted to hear how much you enjoy yours. I do enjoy mine despite those things. And I hope to get them all taken care of so I don't have to keep spending everyone of my days off sitting in the dealership waiting on my Jeep. Somehow I think you'd be talking different if this were your Jeep.......
This is a wonderful Jeep site, and I love reading about everyone's experiences with their Jeeps. I'm just looking for input from others that might be experiencing what I am with mine, to maybe get some insight on my problems I'm having with it.
So, just don't read this thread anymore. I'm only interested in others that can help me with these problems.
Have a good day :)

In the Car and driver issue Sep08,Says about the Liberty:Redsigned in 2008,the Libertys improvement for 2009 are chassis-centric:stiffer rear axle shafts and retuned springs, shocks, and anti-roll bars,as well as tweaks to improve pedal feel(brakes).
