The cb keeps you in the loop of what's going on in front and behind you. You also use it when you need help with an obstacle. If you don't have one you'll have to jump out of your jeep and yell.

You can return it after the run if you don't think you'll use it again or you don't like it.

Even if you don't get one, just show up and have a good time.

I am going to make every effort to make the event. I looked at the $50 radios at Radio Shack but would rather get a nice Cobra 75WXST down the road. See you all in Attica. :)

Hey thanks for the invite. I think I can make this run. I'm not sure if any other Xterra's will make it but it sounds like a good group is going. I would most likely met you at the park. What channel on the C.B.?
Thanks again
Dave

Chicago Northwest Burbs / Chicago City area - we will probably meet at O'Hare/Irving Park Oasis on 294 south Around 4:30 - 5:00 am - I know it is late but we got to catch up with Indiana time... We can caravan from there.
Can I request use of CB channel 4? - for some reason my handheld worked better at the Toys for Tots Parade using that channel.

Chicago caravan meeting time and place:

O'Hare Oasis on 294 at 4:20 AM on New Year's Day 2006. We will head out by 4:45 AM at the latest to head toward Attica.

For everone else metting up with the group in Attica, we will muster in the interior lot of Badlands. This means you should go ahead and buy your admission and head past the gates into the park as soon as you get there.

We will be on CB Channel 4, and will switch after everyone is together if that channel is too busy. I know GLJT will be there that day as well and they also use channel 4.

Here's my list of Chicago caravaners:

pixeldzn
KJ-BOL
Bakerkj

I assume mattnmette will meet us in Indiana as he now lives in DeKalb.

Sorry guys but I will have to sit this one out. Just not enough sleep to drive an 11 hour round trip, plus drive all day at the Badlands. Any other time would work with me staying some where over night and then drive to the Badlands. Plus I have a bad though of last time I was there. On the way home from there last time I got a phone call that my 5 year old nephew passed away.

Enjoy yourself guys
I will see you there in the future

Sorry to hear about the nephew....
We kinda knew that a 1 day trip to Badlands would be waaaay too much for the Detroit guys...
Hopefully next time. We will make sure we schedule another run there on a long weekend.

OK, I guess I'll prolly come. Anyone run Orange yet now that it's been fixed up a bit? I did, but didn't drive it. I'm not certain I'll be up for doing the drop-in to orange.

Also, I prolly won't jeep-a-van since that's wayt too early. I can make it to Attica in 3 hours and 4:20am is just way too f'ing early.

By the way, who's running trail guide? I suggest we get that worked on now so we don't have to waste time there. I can run guide for green and white if no one else wants to. If need be I can do orange too. Or I can run tail gunner on whatever.

Last time we did a bit of the orange trail. The Drop-in was fixed a bit and it is ok. We did not go all the way around it as we had to meet-up with the x-terra guys. Last time Bogdan was the trail leader and Freejeep on the back. Since both aren't coming this time I think the guys with the better rigs go in first and pixldzn & I stay in between with somebody on the back. I do not think it will be too much of a deal deciding who leads or who tails..... that is something we can decide in a flash. bakerkj & Matt are better setup than pixldzn & myself. Do not know about the Indiana guys & vxla - I'm sure one of ya will definetly lead - I aint going in first nowhere :)
We want to get going into the trails as soon as we get there and since an hour is lost due to time zone change, then we want to be there & ready by 9am.
I've got the Grill & will be getting some dogs & buns too.

GLJT & others will be running orange trail for sure - might be way busy - we never know right?

Looks like you're the most experienced of us all so you'll be bringing up the front.

We tried orange and got to a point where we weren't sure how to get the stockers up, but then our friends from the XTerra club appeared on the CB and we had to turn back anyhow. Might be a whole different animal wet and muddy.

I have no problem leading on green/white, etc., but I won't touch orange if it's been wet for more than a few hours. The drop in was just as vicious over thanksgiving as it was back in june, and doing it in June (forwards and backwards) was difficult in itself (dry).
