During a recent trip with our travel trailer we noticed that the CRD's blower was putting out hot air after we stopped along the road for a few minutes. The temperature selector was on coolest setting and the AC compressor was off. It was as though the heater was on full blast. It took several minutes of driving before the vent air was near ambient (about 65 F). This seemed like a new quirk to us.

Seems like something is amiss.

If you look closely you will find he said hot air, not total BS.

I think the transmission cooler is in the AC condenser. Could be the transmission was running warm and effecting the condenser, or maybe the electric fan is not working.

This happened about the same time that I noticed that the transmission wouldn't upshift after cresting a long grade. As was explained in another thread, this is due to the temperature of the transmission fluid.

Some of the 05s had a problem with the engine driven fan coupling.

BTW: Can't stand CNN, they are the main cause of any Global Warming, not CO2

Hotel breakfast bars, restaurants, and Airports all run CNN, can't stand their Dog Bites Dog Food it's a headline attitude.

If the overdrive was not turned off, try it next time you are on a similar long grade. By switching the overdrive off the transmission will lock-up in third gear and generate less heat.

The seal sounds like a likely culprit.

As for other hot air: Corporate media, including NPR and PBS, are great sources of disinformation and distraction for the public. This is not just an American problem. As A.J. Liebling wrote: "Freedom of the press is guaranteed only to those who own one". Some "news" outlets are less subtle than others in advancing their agendas.

It was the seal. Found it loose on top of the engine.
