Hey guys...

I got some bad ball Joints at 38K.

I checked them a by jacking the KJ up from the cross member and that didn't show any wear/play.

When I jacked the KJ up by placing the jack under the control arm HOLLY CRAP ! At least a 1/4 inch worth of play when pushing the wheel towards the engine. I visually saw the play and the movement in the upper joint. Lowers are getting changed out too. I'm really pretty shocked , I've had around 15 cars so far (only 3 new ones) and NEVER had a bad ball joint and this is on my new one !!!

EVERYONE NEEDS TO CHECK THIS, I HAD NO IDEA I HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY BALL JOINTS

Don't let this go...it could cause severe injury or death.

Needless to say...the KJ is grounded until it goes into the shop

Good luck... 8)

Mine is a 2004 that came with those stupid little heat sheilds already. The ball joint is the same on all years, they just added the sheilds and called it fixed (obviously it's not )

I just had my upper control arms replaced last week at 22,000 and mine's an 04.
I still have pops and squeeks coming from the front right side. I guess I'll have to take it back.

Yes. I had the recall done at 5000 miles and the LBJs were bad at 40,000.

Guess Jeep should just add replacing ball joints to the 15k, 30k, 45k, 60k, etc. service schedules.
