haha ya, what were you expecting? I actually made the hitch myself, I got a hitch from a Chevy that is rated for 10,000# and I made the mounts and cut everything just right and my cousin did the welding b/c I didnt want to be using my welds here, but we ended up using about 5# of rod doing a multi-pass weld

When you said shackle mounts I was thinking you would have it run under the rear bumper skin, and either pop out on the drivers side or come up and push through the skin. I didn't think about it being attacked to the hitch like that. I am not saying it is a bad design at all, it in fact opened my eyes to some other possibilities that I never thought of. :)

wow thats awesome!! i took mine off and oput it inside on the left side mounted to the seat bracket, i just put rubber plugs in the threaded holes, i wish that cutout wasnt there on the rear bumper, but oh well, keeps the new tire out of the elements and i dont have to worry about it getting hit when dropping the backend off a steep ledge

again, great job!!

I like it! I wouldn't do it myself but it looks beefy with out the spare and seems to pitch the stance forward a bit but doesn't look bad at all! Congrats on a job well done!

That's a nice look on the Liberty.
Now you need to fix the bumper...

Looks good, great job on the patch work for the holes. I liked the look since I saw the Liberator in 2004 at the auto show. but I still dont know where to carry the spare if I do take it off, and even though I carry a plug kit and onboard air the time will come when im going to need a tire. dont think i want to carry it in the roof basket everyday, but the thing that gets me the most is that we are left with the indentation on the bumper/facia where you know that thats where the tire was. sure you can cover it up but it still would look not so good. Cherokee back plate or CRD may work, but again what to do with the spare, all in all EXCELENT Job.
