Well, I was going to wait until I got a lift before posting any picts, but I figured, what the heck...the KJ is a great truck stock...so maybe I'll share some of my travels so far...

We loaded up with bikes and boats....
Image

...and spent a little time in Sandbridge...
Image

...had an OuterBanks beach picnic on the edge of a storm...
Image

...stopped by the beach house...
Image

...went to my brother's wedding in RI...
Image

...met some ducks in VA Beach...
Image

...actually found an empty parking garage around Christmas time...
Image

...bought a Christmas tree...
Image

...caught a sunset...
Image

...went to the Philly Art Museum where I proposed to my finacee in front of an MC Escher...wait a second, that's not...never mind.
Image

Open for inspection...
Image

...my favorite place to spend a little time...
Image

I love the Limited 22G door handles (the cool canvas manual holder is poking it's OD head out of the storage slot)...
Image

...and I love the rear storage thingy (especially since I got it for free)
Image

Well, that's it for now. I'll post some engine and underbelly picts some time later...and some wheelin' picts after the Christmas holiday is over and I have time to actually DO some.

Merry Christmas everyone!

What is that in the back of your Jeep. Is that a mopar item? i'm a Paramedic and I have to carry a bunch of gear around. So that would work great . Thanks. Oh yeah Great KJ.

Yeah, they started coming from the factory (IIRC) standard. I have one and they are great, except the weight restriction of 30lbs up and 100lbs down on the floor.

BTW nice storyboard. Great looking KJ too :D

Thanks for the comments guys! I love this little truck!!

Yep, rear racky thing is Mopar. It's called the "Rear Cargo Organizer." Guyute1210 is right about the advertised weight limits of the RCO, but I've had more than 30 on it while lifted, and a LOT more than 100 on it while lowered. The biggest potential failure point that I can imagine is the little flip-up organizer edges. They're realtively thin plastic.

It sits on the floor when lowered. It raises by grabbing the single center handle, lifting the trailing edge up, then pulling the whole thing up on scissor-type legs (hard to describe, easy to do). The side posts fit snuggly into (what I assume to be) the "Cargo Compartment Security Cover" mounting slots, which is what holds it in the up position. It's the fact that only two points hold it up, and the legs that limit the weight capacity when it's lifted. The legs are definitely not cast iron...but they're not tin foil either. I've had 60+ pounds on it and haven't seen any ill effects. I've even lifted it with a 40lb support bag sitting on top of it. Good soulder/back workout...cargo organizer didn't flinch. I would think that it would hold a paramedic box like a champ, 'cause it holds my tool box and my art supply box like a champ (and you don't have to swing the tailgate open).

It's listed on my window sticker as a $175 option, and they're priced that way on the Jeep.com website when you build an 06 too. Guyute1210, if you got it standard, I think you got a free part. 8) I don't know what they might cost aftermarket, I can't find it listed anywhere. I know you could build something that is sturdier for less than $175, but it'd be tough to match the interior styling as well, or to make something as flexible to different loads requirements (up, down, seperators up/down, etc.).

I keep mine lifted up with my support gear underneath and my frequent-need gear (PS anti-gel, gloves, funnel, etc.) in the top. I can one-button-flip the rear glass up and reach everything without having to reach way down.

I love it! But that's really easy for me to say since the dealer through it in for free in an effort to move the last CRD off his lot. ;-)

Very slick rear organizer. I've seen em on the jeep build and price section but not actual pics of one. Very cool.

Say....you forgot to tell us if she said yes.

CONGRATS if she did.

I am also jealous of the canvas manual pouch. Can you take a picture of it close up?

I love the Jeep KJ's inside door opener handles. Very distinctive and easy to use.

there is a double-secret slot for that owners book you know, there is a space for it at the top of the glove box kind of behind the latch. Only if you want to free-up your door storage though.

if you knew about the slot,,,well then never mind, but it took me a while to notice mine, even the dealer said it went in the door because its too big for the glove box!

Hey all...finally back from vacation! Whew! Haven't had a chance to take picts of the manual holder yet, but I will. Got a new digi-camera from my...(wait a second...yes, she said YES!! Woohoo! If you want details, go here)...fiancee, and I'm having a blast playing with it.

Here are a few new ones of the Liberty since Christmas day:

Parked next to my brother's Patriot Blue 05 CRD (first time the trucks have met)...
Image

Parked...I mean "packed" at the beach house that we rented for the New Years party. That's mine on the left and my brother's on the right (my sister's Venture is between the two). Hard to tell in the pict, but my fincee's Nissan is parked in front of my Liberty, my Dad's Venture is parked in front of my Sister's Venture, and there's a trailer parked in front of my brother's Liberty (it's a big parking spot).
Image

Packed and ready to go back home. The waterproof "bodybag" xCargo thing came in handy for this trip!
Image

I finally "found" the slot for the manual thanks to this forum (Adam rules!) It's certainly tough to just accidentally stumble across unless you just happen to be 2-feet tall, or laying down on the front seat.

Yep, I love the inside door handles too! I've probably received more passenger comments about the handles than anything else...well, except the power window switch locations. :? Normally, I just roll them down for the passengers after they've locked and unlocked the doors a few times.

And, yep, living at the beach is pretty fun. It's a first for me (I've only been here 4 years). The Jeep wishes I would move back up into the mountains where there are hills to play with instead of just sand. But that's what road-trips are for!

I'll post manual holder picts soon!

Looks like you are having a real good time with the Jeep! It looks like yours and my CRDs were built real close to each other! Where did you come up with the login name "dog_party" anyway? Every time I see it I just have to smile because it reminds me of the "dog party" every night at my house when I get home from work! My two dogs just freak and I love it! :D

Ha! Yep, there's nothing like a good welcome-home dog-party. When you're a dog lover, then you have one every time you get home. I've found, however, that it's pretty dangerous to place the Christmas tree near the front door...dog parties and Christmas ornaments don't mix well.

There were a couple inspriations for the login name Dog Party. One is that dogs are/always-have-been/always-will-be a big part of my family. Another is that my little dog Lou does a crazy tap-dancing, butt-wagging dance for me every time I get home (whether I've been at work for 10 hours or at the Chinese takeout place for 10 minutes). Now that I'm engaged, my dog Lou spends his days with my fiancee's dog Terra and I have a two-dog party when I get home.

We have regular neighborhood dog parties too, where everyone brings the pooches and some food (usually some home baked dog treats) and we all just hang around and drink. There are normally (at least) as many dogs as people at our neighborhood parties! I can't wait for Spring so we can move those parties back to the BEACH!

And, finally, to top it all off...my dog LOVES the Scott Henderson CD called Dog Party, which contains some fantastic jazz guitar, great lyrics, and a few dog barks. Lou loves singing along with it! And it just so happens that, when I traded in my old car on the Jeep, that was the only CD that I had in the car. I put it in the six-disc changer and it was blaring out of my speakers as I drove off the lot for the first time.

How do your dogs like your Jeep? Ours love it! Drop those rear seats and whip out the two dog blankets I keep in the back and BAM, instant Dog Wagon!

Lou (Black Lab and unknown terrier mix, abuse rescue/runaway) and Terra (Cocker Spaniel and Golden Retriever mix)...Going to the beach without a dog should be illegal!! It's always a dog party at our beach!!

My dogs LOVE the jeep. My first was a rescue from the local pound about seven years ago - a shephard/golden lab mix - she(Heidi) is a pure pretty gold but with shephard type hair and if you even wisper the word "Jeep" she is banging down the garage door - all 36lbs of her.

Our newest dog we just got in February of 2005 and rescued him from a kill shelter out the the backwoods of some county in Indiana. He was there for 9 weeks caged up in the overflow area which was just plastic crate kennels stacked 3 high in a spare room (he was on top) for 23 hours a day. He is a pure bred English Setter no less. Great dog but I have given hime the nickname "Colt the Bolt" because if he gets free you may never see him again. Note to everyone - "Dog won't hunt/gun shy" translates to PERFECT family dog :-)

Heidi grew up riding around in my old 1979 CJ5 and later in my 1974 CJ6, but Colt is a different story. When he rides, he's 55lbs in your lab. Here is the "Heidiho" jeeper:

Image

Any ideas on how to keep an oversized lap dog contained safely in a Liberty? Here he is at the kill shelter before I adopted him - how in the world did he get turned down for 9 weeks? He was already crate trained, only took 24 hours to house train...

Image

So should I get one of those cage seperators for the back area to contain him maybe??? Or is there some kind of special safety harness I can restrain him with??? Need to get back to full Jeep Dog mode.

My pup wears a harness when we're out. I have a 6' leash going from the center carseat latch in the cargo area to her harness and it give her full roaming abilties in the back seat and the rear and only lets her stick her head above the center counsel. She can see the front but can't get up there and I feel safe having her "seat belted". I don't see why you can't do something like that with maybe a 3' leash to the cargo tie downs in the very back. Works well for us!

That's it for real stuff. Here's my dogs life story: I was on a road trip with a friend and my cars transmission died. The tow truck dude showed up with a tiny little puppy. He had stopped on the side of the highway, at night in the desert outside of Kingman, AZ to pee and the little puppy (with puppy breath still) came up to him out of nowhere. He picked her up but his apartment wouldn't allow pets and he was going to take her to the pound in the morning. So...my new dog went on a road trip from AZ to Alabama and back to Ca. That was 9 years ago and she is an awesome 45lb bundle of love!

Those are great looking dogs! What a couple cuties! Sorry to hear that Colt likes to bolt. But I'm glad you saved both of them! And you're absolutely right Alljeep, "Dog won't hunt/Gun shy" makes a great family dog!

I also loved hearing your rescue story Nanette! That's awesome! Sounds like she was born to travel! Lou just turned 8 and we're now living in our 8th house (third state)...he's a nomad too.

Good idea on the harness and strap to the child seat anchor Nanette! That seems like a good way to keep them safe and secure. I also ran across a Seat Sling at Duluth Trading Company. Might be worth a look (shrug). Maybe a combination of the two? The seat sling comes in Navy and Khaki. I've never shopped those cage-type rear cargo organizers, but I'll bet they'd server your purpose too. Just depends on where you want him to stay. But if you get one of those cargo area cagey things, get him a good seat pad too.

Okay, back to Jeeps...

Here, at long last, is a rare photo of the oft-overlooked, seldom mentioned, notorious....SECRET MANUAL HOLDER AREA!

Secret manual holder area.I have found that there is enough room in this little area for the manual, a small bottle of waterless hand wash, a couple pens, a crumpled up parking ticket, and 4 tightly rolled napkins from Taco Bell
Image

I have also managed, through dilligent research and long hours cramped inside a big fake Rhino with a telephoto lens duct-taped to my Polaroid camera, to capture a couple shots of...

OD Canvas manual holder (closed) Notice cool brown leather Jeep patch
Image

OD Canvas manual holder (open) Notice that attchment (which should probably be a cool metal buckle or something) is, instead, a black square of very lightweight hook&loop. Oh well, putting a buckle on the manual holder would have put the Liberty Limited out of my price range.

Seeya on the beach...with a dog!!!

Always happy to entertain.

I guess the manual holder might be more greenish than the typical olive drab (shrug). How about it we call it "cool retro WWII color that harkens back to the GP origins of our trucks"? Or does you manual holder look different from mine?
