Rear Differential sliders...

Can we do anything like this jeep for our differentials? It sure looks like it would protect the diffs more than our other options (rings / covers).

Has anyone done this, or is there an obvious reason i am overlooking that would prevent one being installed.

Would this be a fabricated idea, or can you buy them somewhere?

i actually asked about this too a few months ago. theres nothing currently made for the kj, but you could fab something!

i don't know how i'd trust that "skid" for the diff.
it looke like the front part of the "skid" is relying on the driveshaft, if i'm not mistaken, and that is SCARYYYYYYY!

they're used by many people and dont ride on the driveshaft. JJsKJ has one on his SFA KJ. i dont really know much about them myself, but i think they're widely accepted and are a safe and useful product. Send him a PM and see how its working out for him!

The Nth diff skid Clamps to the housing and diff tubes., IT protects not just the diff but also the driveshaft and pinion so it is pretty sweet to have that. You can slam your diff into rocks and it just slides right over stuff instead of getting hung up and breaking parts. LOVE IT!

The one on allyrands SFA is a Nth for the D44 but adapted/modified to work on the 8.25.

Yell and scream for one for teh 8.25, It may happen as it was once on the drawing board to be made for not just the KJ's but also the XJ's w/ 8.25. Of course there needs to be a lot of Want for it and $$ to back that up for them to consider it. My HO, not fact. fwiw

I see lips of the diff sticking out in that picture. Hangups there. I would like the slider to also curve up beyond the backside of the diff so if you have to backup, you don't just slam into your diff cover and get stuck. The slider would just slide you up in the air and over the obstacle. That's just me though. Overkill? Perhaps.

If you feel like spending the $$$$$.

My new rear diff has a skid already built into it(it is replaceable),and since it's a high pinion design no worries about hanging up on the driveshaft/pinion.

Rear Differential sliders...
