Okay, so it turns out that we've had a lot of success with past "photo essays" of other Jeep vehicle platforms and we've decided to dedicate our spring 2009 issue to the Jeep Liberty. If you have a cool photo of your rig on the trails, send us a high resolution (300dpi or better) with a full mod listing, etc and we'll plan to use it in our next issue. As an incentive, all submissions will receive one complimentary JPFreek decal.

Email your photo submissions to: editor@jpfreek.com

All photo submissions need to be received no later than 1/31/09 so keep 'em coming and keep 'em a-plenty. Happy Jeepin'!

This is for the Spring '09 issue. I believe that it will be out sometime in March... Three long months... The winter issue should be out any day now.

Ok, I thought I could figure out what DPI my pics are but all I can come up w/ is the size of the pic and dims. How do I know if they meet the minimum requirement of 300 DPI??

It is amazing how much you forget about stuff when you don't use it and fill your head w/ useless internet drivel instead.

I dunno either. Mine were all HiDef images but they only showed size and dims also. Frank, the editor seemed pleased though...

You don't need to worry about DPI too much. DPI is dots per inch and is used to describe how many dots per inch a printer can produce on paper. A better term here is PPI which is pixels per inch. This number is also used for printing an image. The number of PPI of your computer monitor for instance is usually about 75. If you are printing an image usually 240 PPI is plently enough.

The number that you need to consider is the resolution (how many pixels). Generally, the higher the resolution the better the image. If you wanted to print out a 4x6" picture at 300 PPI you would need a resolution of 1800 x 1200 pixels or 2.1 MPixels. An 11x7" at 300 PPI picture would need 3300x1200 pixels or 4 MPixels. Most modern digital cameras produce 4 or more MPixels per image so you shouldn't have to worry too much about meeting the minimum 300 ppi. 6 - 10 MPixel cameras produce awesome results. Anything above 10 is getting into the semi-pro and pro quality results.

So... Size does matter?

Yes it does in the world of digital photography.

The other thing that matters is color bit depth but we won't go into that here.
