My transmission has started shifting hard between 1st and 2nd gears but is smooth in all other shifts. Any thoughts on this? Am I looking at a transmission overhaul in the near future?

This is normal if you recently towed a heavy trailer - TCM can take several days to relearn no-load conditions - if not, try disconnecting the battery for ~30mins - then do some normal take-offs from dead stop, and continue normal driving - TCM should relearn normal stop'n'go driving technique within ~30mins

FYI: having a sig with your vehicle data and general location listed therein helps greatly in determining proper diagnosis and response - there are several notable differences in '05 and '06 KJ CRD models, even more in earlier Diesel models and export models

Thanks for the info. Also abut the sig info. I didn't know there was much difference between the 05 and 06 models.
