I'd love to have one.

Just don't have $25,000 large.

There was a blue Laredo CRD that I went to look at and it was gone about 2 weeks ago. Well it showed up so I went to talk with the guys about it. Man did they try and break one off in my stupid. They have a sale price on it for $29,992.00 so I go in and tell them that I'll take the GC out the door with my trade in for $29,400.00 to match my payment on my Liberty and they tell me that with my trade that it will be $568 a month for 72 months at 2.9% with $1,000 down, that comes out to financing $37,407.25 after $1,000 down. I asked if they even heard what I said and they told me that I owed 2500 more than the Liberty is worth plus I don't get the 3,500 rebate with the 2.9% financing and with TLT it would be 568 a month, 597 if I took the rebate. I told them there was no way in he!! I was going to pay that much and they said "well we have cheaper vehicles you can take a look at, that are more in your price range." What a f#$k y%u thing to say.

My favorite zinger I got them with is they said that "Our vehicles are worth every cent of the MSRP" I asked them "if they are worth the MSRP then why after a month of having it at $9,000 off of MSRP it is still on your lot?" They said "Right now things are tough for everybody." BS. Needless to say I still have my Liberty and thats ok with me.

Funny thing about car dealers. I think they'd rather sell a vehicle at auction than cut a deal with a customer.

My dad had a good friend who was a car dealer. He said that a car cost him money every day it sat on the lot. Wonder if the same holds true today. If so, at some point, it's going to have cost the dealer more money to let it sit there than it would have to sell it at a loss and move on.

I believe in Indiana they have to pay taxes on every vehicle they have on their lots when the new year rolls around. They have my number if they want to get rid of it.

After following this post and doing some homework I've concluded the GC would be a good rig for me...

Things I like
1. Darn plush when you get it loaded up
2. Some good options for after market suspension lifts
3. Mileage inline with the KJ CRD
4. Good options in terms of after market armor for off roading
5. You can get some big tires under a new GC
6. The engine is solid with good power
7. The price

Thing that would make it better
1. 3rd row of seating (I have young kids and kitchen approval is crucial)
2. SFA

If the timing were a little better I think would buy one today, depending on my circumstances (I may need to relocate to CA in the next few months) I may snatch one up in the near future.

Caution:

They are now out of production - bosses didn't want to spend the $$$ for 2009 emissions.

They were never available in CA (and NY NH MA and two other I can't remember).

I found out an interesting fact today about owning a GC. The dealer who ran my Liberty told me that it was only worth $10,025 as a trade in(KBB), OK fine no big deal. I got curious about how much the GC would be worth as a trade if I bought today and went to trade it tomorrow. It seems that the GC with all its options would be worth $18,500 as a trade. (KBB)   I've heard of depreciation but holy crud. I looked at Suggested retail value also and it was $24,350(KBB). FWIW the MSRP Was $38,775 and there sale price was $29,992. Over $20,000 loss from the MSRP seems to be a lot to lose for driving it a day. Even at the sale price it losses over $11,000. WOW!!!

Danoid I'm glad you got a great deal. I'm not trying to say anything about the GC, When I drove it it was a real nice ride and felt really solid, good power, really nice fit and finish, but just imagining lossing that kind of value driving it off the lot makes me really glad I did not buy it. I know KBB is not the end all be all of car value, but it is what the dealer used on me.

I may go to the dealer tomorrow and see what they have to say about my findings, just for sh!ts and giggles.

I had a similar thing happen. As part of my loan approval, the loan officer wanted to run a KBB or something of the sort and was asking (not always the right) questions about the content of the vehicle. First of all she started off that it was a WK Laredo. She didn't ask any questions like the basic options package or powertrain. There's a BIG difference between an 'E' package and an 'X' package with a diesel. Yes they are both Laredos, but there's a $7k MSRP difference between the two. And having driven both models, you couldn't pay me to drive a 3.7L gas (patooie) WK.
