So are you doing all this extra work yourself or is it a shop? Are the long arms custom?

You should get the old control arm mounts cut off the back. Cutting off the old mounts was part of the instructions for the installation of my long arm on my LJ. When the new long arm swings up during compression, it will hit the old mount and stop you from getting maximum up travel.

Currie also makes arms similar to the Nth arms. I think they are called J-spec or something. They are bent up in the middle to allow extra clearance.

I'll check those out as well. Thanks.

Bent arms just make it easier to bend at the bent part of the arms.

After looking at Currie's arms the bent ones are the front lowers only and the rear uppers only. The uppers must be bent to fit around something or some other reason, but the lowers aren't bent for more ground clearencein the rear like I'd like. I think they are the JK arms as well, and not the TJ but I don't know if that makes a difference.

As far as bending the arms more easily, I've never heard or seen someone bending the Nth arms, doesn't mean it hasn't happened, but it doesn't seem to be an issue. The front arms are reinforced as well but the rears stand alone I believe.

W/ as much time as straight arms spend hitting stuff, I bet they get bent/damaged way more than arms w/ more clearance. Even w/ 33's, I have only scraped mine a few times. I have had a couple guys w/ 35's on TJ's tell me how they wish they had the bent arms for better clearance. (they have RE's or similar and they are pretty beat up)

well at full flex my rear arms don't touch it...i will notch out the center just in case...the arms are made of 7/17 inch wall DOM...i don't think they would be bending... 8)

our rubicon has the RE long arms.. they are straight and we've beat them pretty well and so far they're solid as a rock. they new RE long arm's are bent instead of straight.. and i could see where they would help.. ours are pretty scratched up.

ohv- the new arm's look great! seems to be a very large improvement.. and you'll probably see a big difference on and off road. shorter arms create more of a "pogo" effect where long arms restore more of the factory angles for proper suspension... just a lot more of it

Has anyone used Claytons Long Arms, they look really good, well built and everyone who switched to them say they are the best, suppose to be a pretty good price as well. Lots of guys over on ROF have them

I have heard nothing but good things about clayton. I'd rather have Nth but Clayton seem as good as RE.

i know two people with clayton long arm kits on their rubi TJ's and both had horrible death wobble and bump steer. our rubicon express when in pretty easy and drives like a caddy. just a warning :)

but they're arms look pretty strong. maybe it's just because they're square

really as long as they are adjustable...the arms should only matter in strength... never buy solid arms...you want to have that adjustability...i'm going to make a new thread for long arms so mine doesn't get clogged
