to each his own again the backbone is a great hook up but it looks totally out of place on the KJ, but hey if you like it use it. by the way approach angles??? take a look at the French guys web site, all they do is Jeeps. and if we really concerning ourselves with apporach angles, hey go Higher and use larger tires. :D :D

by the way Great job on the chilian KJ. If I decide not to get an ARB I will do the job in the spring. I have the TJ Universal winch mount and a Warn 9000 sitting in the garage, Keep up the good work.

I would go with either the ARB, RL, or the ROCKSTAR. Front end protection is important.

The "Backbone" is a proven system that works and it is a relatively inexpensive option for those that don't want a new bumper.

The ARB is proven worker as we all know.

Does the Rockstar come with anything but a front hitch adapter? I don't know that I have seen one with an integrated winch.

The RL is somewhere in the "production" stages and has been for what, like 2 years?

Or you could go "custom" like mine or JJ's and modify an existing bumper, or one you like, to fit with a winch.

I like the "idea" of the Backbone , but not how it sticks out there with nothing around.
For me I have hit a couple of things real hard ( BIG ROCK and a Toyota Camry) and hardly a scratch on the ARB, but the winch would of been toast if I would of had the Backbone, just something to think about

I agree, no front end protection is risky And the approach angle is greatly reduced.

I love my backbone and wouldn't trade it for an arb for anything :D

In Chile it's against the law to have anything that sticks out of the front bumper so we can't have the backbone, its a good idea but illegal in Chile. There is only one winch bumper I like, the Liberator bumper  some day...
