I'll pay postage if anyone would ship me their damaged oem fuel manager head - I need several for destructive show'n'tell covering the several areas of concern - USPS Priority mail will furnish the shipping carton and ship it for ~5bucks, with 2-3day delivery, undamaged - just place the head in a sealable zip-loc baggie or several to disguise the odor - my mail lady carrier gets upset when any odor overpowers her parfum..............

I'll pay postage + some cash for a used fuel filter head as I have NONE and will need one.

If you need one - the new improved version is about $82 plus $12 for the connection - from Mopar parts
and the old one came with a new filter - I'm guessing the new ones do too.

Ok, so for those with cast-off but functional oem fuel manager heads, give Sam a whirl

For those with already been bad fm heads, I'll be your Huckleberry - again, I'll spring for shipping costs - additionally, and most beneficial, your significant other should be most satisfied at getting that stinky thing outta the domicile - might even let you sleep in the house for the remainder of the

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year holiday season.............

Has anyone orded the part from mopar parts to confirm if it comes with a filter?

Also, any ideas on how I could get this replaced under warranty?

I just went to the parts counter at my local jeep dealer and told him I needed the new head unit and the connector so he ordered it and in a couple of days it came in and he gave it to me filter and all and said to bring him the old one. There was no charge because of the other three I had replaced were no charge from another dealer. They did not even want to charge my credit card to make sure I would bring back the old part they just sent me home with the head unit and said see ya tomorrow. The previous two times another dealer charged me on my credit card only to reverse the charge when I brought the old part back to them. I am going to be doing more business with the second dealer in Olathe KS from now on.

Has anyone established what type of fuel pump the KK is using in conjunction with the new fuel head.

My Huco lasted 2 months and blew up when i jump started my CRD the other day probably from the power surge.

The KK CRD uses an intake pump that gives about 3bar pressure delivery which is too much for the KJ CRD due to different high pressure pump. I can't remember if it's a Bosch fuel pump in the tank or not.

Yes, the fuel system on the new engines in KA/KK/JK is Piezo and can peform at higher pressures than that found in the KJ. "New" stuff is 1600/1800 bar with higher pressures down the road, KJ is 1600bar only.

Are you saying a 200 bar increase over the KJ which warranted a fuel pump in the KK but not one for the KJ.

The high pressure pump on the newer engines doesn't have the gear-driven lift pump on the back of the pump - if you kill power to the lift pump on these engines, it'll die. This is the main driving factor for having it.

How come they were not charging for the filter heads? Are you still on warranty?

No I am not under warranty I currently have 98.,000 and I just replaced the last one about seven weeks ago. I just complained about the burning plug to the heater and showed the service manager the problem about 2 years ago and since the first replacement was no charge how could they charge me for later replacement since the parts come with a 12 month warranty and they have been free ever since. Now I had to do the repair which was about a 25 minute job and then I just took the bad part back to them. Simple as that. The last one was redesigned and it also came with a new and better plug for the heater and about 6-8 inches of wire and a couple of heat activated shrink tube to seal the new connections. I then wrapped all the new wire and connections with electrical tape to seal it all a little better.

Good lord, you've went thru FOUR of these things in 100K miles?

Guess it's saving you some money so far - instead of spending $30 a pop for a new filter every 25K miles, just unbolt the old assembly and get a whole new shootin' match for free.

No wonder Chrysler needed a TARP handout from the government.

Each unit ended up leaking at the connection for the heater plug and allowing air to get in and causing the vehicle to go into limp mode. The minute it would do that I would go to the dealer and get a new head unit problem solved. Yes it was nice to get a new fuel filter with it but the last one I ended up keeping the few month old filter as a back up. I hope this last unit will solve the problem for good. I have had very few problems with the jeep since doing all the orm including removing the big heavy muffler 2.5 years ago.
