Windshield Washers Won't Spray????

My windshield washers won't spray any washer fluid onto my windshield, I took the wiper cowl off to see if the hoses might have been unhooked they were on good! I checked all my fuses to see if the pump might not be getting power, they were all good. I followed the hoses as far back to the container as i could see but the placement of the container really sucks cuz you can't see around it really and not at all underneath. I think there might be something unplugged at the pump because I can't hear it running when I activate the washers. Any ideas on what it may be? Also my rear washer works fine so if they use the same pump, the pumps probably isn't the problem...

check the little check valve under the cowl where the main feed comes in and splits to the two different sprayer heads. i had this happen last summer. even took the tiny check valve apart and cleaned it up but still couldn't get it to work. all i did was take the diaphram out and now it works fine but takes a extra second to get a full stream of washer fluid

I had the exact problem and fixed it yesterday!
I had a big piece of gunk in the tubes. Here is how to fix it:

1. Open the hood and locate the tube leading from the washer tank to the backside of the engine compartment (its the i think top valve on the passenger side upper corner)
2. Remove the tube from the back wall (you may need to slice it to get it off)
*This is a good time to try turning on the washer to make sure fluid is flowing normally.
3. Use an air compressor and place it on the driver side sprayer nozzle first and turn it on.
4. Do the same on the other side.
5. Reconnect the tube and try it out.

I had to do mine a few times and sure enough a huge gooey chunk shot out on the 3rd time.
Now I have great clean windows!

i try blowing it out as well and always could get flow until i put the check valve back in. are any of you using rain-X washer fluid??? it shortly happened after my wife added a bottle. im wondering if there is something in it that gums up the lines

I was going to say that, but then I saw he was in Arkansas, probably doesn't get super cold temps.

Did you check the sprayer nozzles? Could have some build up.

I actually had this same problem for a little while. I've been using the Rain-X fluid for as long as I've owned the Jeep, but one time I had to use the "cheap blue stuff" because I needed it and the store was out of Rain-X. I thought the problem arose upon the two washer fluids mixing, because of the timing. Loganbrumm mentioned a large gooey chunk that shot out of his, however I did it the hard way using about a half bottle of washer fluid and just sprayed it all out the nozzles. After my nozzles were spraying nice and smoothly and evenly, I had one helluva time cleaning that "gunk" off my windshield. I really hate to go there, but the consistency of the stuff was almost like, well, let's just say a guy "really enjoyed himself all over my windshield" :oops:

I have no idea where it came from (Oh, I did not say that...LOL) but it was a one time deal. Been over a year now and no issues since. Could it be that the Rain-X builds up and clogs the schnozzles over time?

I had the same problem in my XJ when I tried Rain-X. I think that Savage Urge is correct with the idea that Rain-X can interact with the "blue stuff" or even build up gunk over time. Rain-X can be nice but overall the "blue stuff" seems a better deal.
