Libby was at 30k so I decided to change the fluid & filter, ordered a filter from advance and got some atf-4, changed the fluid took the old filter out... took about an hour plus change. Had to grind down the tranny pan and coat it because of rust also.

however after I finished installing I noticed some play in 1st & 2nd gear... it went away though so i thought "no big deal"

next morning on the way to work, the tranny started slipping like crazy in first and second gear, however once it warmed up for a while it stopped. Talked to a guy who worked at the jeep dealership & he said it the cheap pro king filter causing it. So now i get to go to jeep & buy a 42rle filter from them $arm & leg$ and all new atf-4 $30, and spend my new years day ripping the tranny pan off again. yaaaaaay

moral of the story... dont buy cheap $hi$!!!

I wouldn't buy major replacement parts (like transmission parts, brakes, suspension, etc...) from Advance or AutoZone. I only buy oil (and Purolator filters), fluids, wiper blades, car shampoo, etc... Better off getting from NAPA or the dealer.

Now you just wasted your time and 4-5 qts of ATF and possibly your transmission. Lesson learned, I guess. Replace the fluid/filter asap and don't drive it anymore.

I only use OEM trans filters, cost about $30 for the kit for the 45RFE,but that's both filters and a tube of MOPAR black sealant.

You get what you pay for. If you keep taking the cheap way out, you are going to be the guinea pig at some point. I've had that happen to me numerous times, unfortunately.
