I started my lift today. Daystar in the front, OME springs in the back. I decided to let a local shop press the struts. He kept them for 4 hours, and then charged me for 2 hours labor. AND.......... he did NOT align the key on the bottom of the strut for the clevis properly for the top plate to fit. ( I guess just because I asked him to ensure he did this three times, he decided to ignore me.) So, when I mount the struts to the top plate, the bottom of the strut is a half inch from allowing me to properly mount and align the clevis.

In any case, how can I get the bottom of the strut turned properly to align correctly in the clevis? Man I am frustrated. Thanks.

Take it back and talk to the manager! They should fix it for free if they are worth a dang. As for ligning it up, only way to do it is to compress the spring and loosen the top nut and twist, or may be able to twist it by just compressing the spring.

If it's not to far off the mark, try twisting it with a pipe wrench. It worked for me.

I was able to twist the right one with a breaker bar. The problem is, only the strut moved. The puck did not, so it's still not correct. And I checked the left strut, it's off by almost an inch. I'm taking them back tomorrow. I am extremely "non-plussed" with this guy. tells me it took him two hours to press them, and then they're wrong. I job that I would have had done in <6 hours, now has to wait until tomorrow to get finished. Oh well, at least while he was screwing up my front struts, I got the springs and shocks installed in the back.

Here was the guy's response this morning.

"This thing was way difficult to put together. I lined up the boot at the top like the instructions said. But if I did this, then the key and the puck didn't line up, so I just lined up the top."

I noted that in doing this, he had the strut key so far out f line, I couldn't get the clevis fork back on. AND when I twisted the one that was only a half inch off, the puck did not move, so it's in the wrong place now. so while it's great that the rubber isolator at the top is where you think it needs to be, everything else is not.

I've tried to teach my children consequential thinking. I guess he didn't think of the consequences of putting it together in a way that parts won't work together.................................

I do not understand his dilema...

He knows you can rotate the spring inside the assembly so it will hit the propper place in the isolators regardless of where the top plate and bottom notch is....

He is the common man, the salt of the earth, simple folk.... You know morons...

If all else fails, I guess that you could just grind off the spur where the clevis clamp attaches? The OME struts that came with the Rusty's 2.5" coil kit don't have the alignment spur to begin with. I used a tapered 1" to 1 1/8" square oak block to keep the clevis open until the parts are lined up and bolted in, then tap the block off on to the proper place on the strut.
