I simply used a standard clamp and went off my roofrack. I had to ground it, but it looks like it would work off of the factory rack as well, so long as you run a ground lead, although I want to end up going off the tire holder eventually as well. Nice job!

Hey, what kind of brackets would I need for this install and how would I do it? Could you give me some tips? I like the mount where it is on the middle of the spare tire.

Yeah, how's that going to work anyway? Any way to keep that on while removing the spare? Otherwise that will be a nightmare.

KJ2005, I though about mounting my CB on my seat like that but it didn't like it too much when I moved the seat forward or back. Any issues with that?

First I don't know why in the heck I would be on a trail, I don't have a 4x4 Jeep unfortunately  anyways. It would be perfect for me because honestly how hard is it to unscrew a cable and pop off an antenna? I mean I drive the highway a lot so I was thinking for this reason so I could talk to the truckers to find out if there's any bears out there.

What if you get a flat on the road? The brackets block the wheel from coming off with his design. Not the antenna.

Well thats why really that bracket is the wrong one. It needs to be smaller right there or a different bend. But the mount is a good idea because with a smaller bracket or different bend you should be able to pop off the spare with no problems.

Yeah, but since we were discussing his, I thought I'd ask what he planned on doing to get around that little problem.

I never really liked the license plate idea there, but ah to each his own.
