Want a lift but will it need other mods?

Hi, I know this has been covered before. But I'm a little confused. I'm thinking about getting the Rocky Road 2.125" Combo kit - $219. If i was to install this would i need any other modifications after it, as in new control arms, cv boots. blah,blah,blah? Also is this lift good for alot of street highway use (My wife and baby will be using as well).. I don't want to do it if parts are known to break from it. Any comments or opinions would be great. There's a place across the street from "Truck Guys" that does all of thier lifts, they charge 75 an hour..Do you thinks thats a good price and how long do you think it would take to install this by a pro..Thanks in advance..

Mine isn't done yet.....but I have done them before....the kit will take about 3 hours to install, 65 to 75 bucks an hour is average....make sure you get new shocks for the rear....about 60 bucks for two....because stock ones will top out (not good)...make sure a wheel alignment back to factory specs is done after the installation...about 60 bucks....and if your adding larger tires make sure you get your speedometer recalibrated....about 40 to 70 bucks....I think I answered everything? :wink:

If you find a place that does a $60 alignment (dirt cheap) go for it!!! The CV's are fine for lifts up to 2.5 inches. Thats why you dont find lifts above 2.5 inches (except RockKrawler but I don't count crap). Definetly get the shocks, I didn't and I have a rough ride now. Might not be a bad idea to get the Rancho struts as well (not required but it's a good idea). The Combo kit is decent from what I've heard. Stay away from the OTT kit though. These KJ's are fairly simple to lift, you might want to try organizing a lift party, it will be cheaper to buy beverages (you know i mean beer) and pizza then to have a shop do it. Plus you get to say "I did it". If a shop does it-expect 3-4 hours. My lift (Rusty's Spacer) to me 6 hours to install by myself.

You will only need the extended rear shocks and an alignment afterwards.
I would suggest the Ranchos from Al J's. If you go with the DT 3000 shocks from RR make sure you cut the longest steel sleeve down to fit the upper shock mount.
