I have no problem leading on green/white, etc., but I won't touch orange if it's been wet for more than a few hours. The drop in was just as vicious over thanksgiving as it was back in june, and doing it in June (forwards and backwards) was difficult in itself (dry).

Agreed it was scary. We moved a large rock so we could get down it without damage. It was a little damp at that point too. After the initial drop, it was preety challenging, but not scary. I'd try it again after a good look at what condition it was in.

We could always drop in just east of the main building. There is a trail that is by the kiddie track. That will bypass the main drop in, the tight spot between those two trees and the big nose dive spot. or I lets just say the first two large obsticles.

Do we have an Idea about what C.B. channel we will be on if 4 is busy. If I'm coming down on my own I's like to be able to find you guys as quickly as possible.

Green has never been a problem. only ran part of orange once seemed like we did more bypasses than any. The only thing I'm not big on is alot of mud. To much cleaning! I'm not heavy on the skinny peddle kind of guy. I'd rather get home in one piece than break something.
I'm not sure how anyone else is set up.
I'm open at both ends, 1.5inch lift, 32'' mud ta's, hi lift, all recovery gear, tools, sliders, c.b and frs radios etc .

I'm coming from up north so I'll most likly meet at the park.
How about some pizza after the run? There is a good little place in Kirkland.

BroncoX - I live up in Round Lake Beach and BakerKJ lives in Lindenhurst, so we'll be hitting I-94 from 132 to head over to the O'Hare Oasis, meet up with KJ-BOL and then head out. Let me know if you wanna take that route.

Let's use channel 14 if 4 is busy.

I'm up for pizza. I'm bringing my daughter and nephew this time - I promised them in a moment of weakness over the holidays - so anyone else with a 8-12 yr old kid, they will have a partner in crime if you bring them along.

As for who's got what - some of us are bone stock, although many if not all have a limited slip rear. A couple are lifted, a couple are not. Our wheelbase makes it possible to do a lot stock - you'll be amazed.

KJ-BOL is bringing a grill, and I'm bringing dogs and buns. If someone could pick up chips and pop, that'd be great!

I'll bring the chips. I think I might have some leftover from the thanksgiving run. I'll have to check under my back seat :D

Last time we did a bit of the orange trail. The Drop-in was fixed a bit and it is ok. We did not go all the way around it as we had to meet-up with the x-terra guys. Last time Bogdan was the trail leader and Freejeep on the back. Since both aren't coming this time I think the guys with the better rigs go in first and pixldzn & I stay in between with somebody on the back. I do not think it will be too much of a deal deciding who leads or who tails..... that is something we can decide in a flash. bakerkj & Matt are better setup than pixldzn & myself. Do not know about the Indiana guys & vxla - I'm sure one of ya will definetly lead - I aint going in first nowhere :)
We want to get going into the trails as soon as we get there and since an hour is "LOST" due to time zone change, then we want to be there & ready by 9am.
I've got the Grill & will be getting some dogs & buns too.

GLJT & others will be running orange trail for sure - might be way busy - we never know right?

Indiana guy here - rig not set up yet so I'm riding shotgun with bakerkj and a bottle of aspirin 8) I'm too used to the CJ and Wrangler set-ups I had in the past so I need to see how the KJ needs to be set up for me and off road before I go blindly into this.

I'll bring multiple forms of caffeine :D

So some of the GLTJ guys are leaving a bit later.

http://gljt.org/modules.php?name=Forums ... 1713#41713

Is there any particular reason why you're meeting at the ORD oasis so early? It doesn't take that long to get there; last time I did it with traffic in 3.5 hours (that was with an hour of traffic). So I'm not sure what the rationale is for getting there so early.

Note: I'm not going out to party the night before, but I just can't seeing leaving that early, especially with the residual drunks on the road.

I'm leaving the crapyears in the garage, they aren't as pretty as my mudders and I'm starting to miss the loud humming sound.
I'll run Tail gunner unless someone else wants to.

No daylight savings time in Indiana - so hitting the road at 5 AM gets us there at about 8:30 AM Indiana time. Plus, we like to suffer.

Plus, people are inherently late, even though our caravan is small. I also personally want to be at the park early enough to muster our buddies from indiana and ohio.

We'll be on 4 or 14 when you get there.

leaving 5 am from the oasis will get us to attica by 9am - with stops for gas & the like.... besides we do not like breaking the law by going over the speed limit  yeah right....
with setting up the flags, airing down and getting the pass, meeting the new guys - staring at other rigs, coffee, etc, etc; hey, by that time I'de be ready to head home

I thought the same thing when I first took my renny offroading - I learned that with my stock rig I could do a lot - not as much as with a lift but 75 to 80% - was happy with the outcome. Then I went to Badlands and that was a new experience - you'll never know what your libby can do unless you are driving it - it's a combination of you & your jeep.
I totally understand your desire to ride shotgun first - I almost did it myself the first time - don't get me wrong. - I'm just sharing my experience. The only one change from the first to the second trail run.... got me some revo's.
We'll see ya Sunday...

Heavy rain is predicted all day Monday here across Indiana. Keep an eye on the forecast tomorrow and Sunday to see if it gets better or worse...

It's tempting, but I'm going to wait and see. When I upsized my tires I ended up with some rubbing that may become significant, so I'm going to get my lift options figured out...

If you get there early, I'll bring my sawall and we can cut the bumpers and fenders flares off. Then you will be good to go.

You're going to rub no matter what. You may think you won't, but you'll flex enough on the drop-in to green that it will rub.

Get over it; that's the fact of life until we get better lifts. Now quit being a whimp and come with! :)

Yeah, that would be nice, but after installing this tonight :

I found out my washer fluid bottle was touching the front passenger fender/wheel well    down low and exposed in front of the tire.

Ah heck, who needs washer fluid anyway
