TJ - rear seat

Can you put a car seat in the middle on the seat in the back on a tj 96-06?

the car seat needs to be in the middle and facing back, I hope it will work?

Not without custom mounting a third set of seatbelts into the TJ. Which is very easy to do... But stock the TJ has only driver side and passenger side seatbelts no middle seat position.

I read up on another jeep forum and you can. As long as you have the car seat base with the clip attachment. the clips go through the two cutouts on the bottom of the back part of the seat and clip to the metal bar running across.

Well, The I'm glad you answered your own question. I have three kids, and none of the car seats I have ever used or seen would have worked in a CY, YJ or TJ in the middle position without fabbing up the third seat belt.

PS... There was no wrangler produced in 96...

I was looking at an LJ and connected the seat base in the middle just fine. Need to have the latch system like the one below. Didn't buy the jeep though, I am still searching. :wink:
