I was shocked to see this bumped, but I'm still not convinced... Much rather do a lift pump and a ECU tune. I'm off the B20 but still adding powerservice every tank.

Octane number represents gasoline fuel's resistance to self-ignition where spark-ignition is preferred over heat ignition - helps prevent that Diesel-rattle, which is death to a gasser (patooie!) - higher number = higher temperature of ignition

Cetane number represents Diesel fuel's ability to self-ignite at some high temperature - higher number = lower temperature of ignition

Anytime someone installs a hi-perf accessory on his\her vehicle, their subconscious gears up to prove it works, which means their driving-style is altered accordingly - even if the 'upgrade' doesn't improve power or performance, it will do so in their mind, with insistence on realized (imaginary) improvement being directly proportional to price

Anytime someone installs an economy-improver accessory on his\her vehicle, their subconscious gears down to prove it works, which means their driving-style is altered accordingly - even if the 'upgrade' doesn't improve economy, it will do so in their mind, with insistence on realized (imaginary) improvement being directly proportional to price

Best determination of real value is to carefully note quality of snakeoil (advertisement) - the greater the claims, the more 'scientific' the datum, the higher the realized profits - some in-depth research may even reveal national sales in an earlier era by Ronco..................

As was said, if these things could CONSISTENTLY produce a 1 mpg increase on a Class 8 truck, which with '07 emissions generally get 6 mpg, that would be nearly a 20% increase in fuel mileage.

If that were the case, every driver and trucking company would be installing these things, you'd find them at every truck stop and Cummins/Cat service center, and we'd be installing them as a customer requested option at Freightliner when the truck rolled off the assembly line.

One thing you have to remember about mags such as Diesel Power - they're often getting monetary compensation for doing articles featuring a particular product, and definitely for carrying their ads in the magazine.

I can get a heck of a lot more variation than 1 mpg just depending on where and which brand of diesel fuel I buy, how cold it is outside, how my tires are inflated, how heavy my right foot is, etc, etc. And none of those factors cost me an extra dime.
