Or try something different and possibly come up with the answer all of us would like to hear. That a cheap (cheaper) locker works for the D30a.

Here is my logic, if a airline gets snagged, you can loose your locker unless you can repair that airline in the field.... If the cable gets snagged then as long as you hvae some spare wire, you can run a line from your battery to the locker, to get you through the trail. A much easier field repair.

Takes about 30 seconds to repair a ARB airline. No fancy tools needed, actually no tools needed at all but a sharp knife or razor blade.

No such thing, besides a locker is something you really do not want to go cheap on.When that cheap lockers blows it will take alot of other parts with it,and they will fail.

Cool appreciate your opinion, but in my opinion there most certainly is a cheaper way than $1000+ an axle to lock a diff reliably. That is the great thing about cars, trucks and jeeps. There is 10 ways to do anything to them and for every guy thinking one way is the best there are 10 more thinking another way is.

But for the front diff of a KJ only a couple of real choices, true the ARB may be more expensive but the DTT is very affordable option. ARB are real easy to repair on the trail, new line is easy to carry if you need it 5 minutes and going again.

What good is a limited slip going to do in the front? I still don't get it. Either you want a locker or you don't...a limited slip still slips, hence the name. Lock it, or don't bother IMO.

a locker is superior to a limited slip...and more to the point, how is an air line or a wire going to get ripped loose from your differential any more than an wheel speed sensor wire or brake line will? If you're afraid of that kind of stuff, stop wheeling your KJ, because you might lose your speedo sensor, ESP, ABS, brakes, etc etc and so forth...

I have been thinking about this lately and was wondering if you guys that have been around for a while would join me in a new thread, as not to muck up this one, to discuss why the other d30 kits will not work.

Please join the discussion.

Ask Troy if his DTT worked, or Joey if his works.

It is a simple and effective way to add more traction. No hoses or lines to consider or install. I'm not saying an ARB isn't the way to go, they are the best, but they aren't the only option and cost a small fortune. What doesn't make sense?

your right it doesnt completely lock up but you can trick it into "locking" and having it there makes a HUGE difference! take your KJ that is open/open and go wheel with one that is DTT/open I promise you the one with the DTT will go way further if the exact same lines and angles and everything are taken. and the big plus is its less installed than an ARB locker only.
