Thanx for the replies.I assumed if the speedo was correct the odometer was correct also.Thanx again I check it out.I was mainly looking at my speed on my GPS.

Unlike old mechanical systems the Liberty is fly by wire and the sppedometer and odometer do not get their data fron the same source. When we first signed up here there was a lot of focus on mileage then all of a sudden folks started checking their odometers against GPS and other sources and finding differences. The big shock came when the results of the odometer were the reverse of what was found with the speedometer.

I had understood that the EVIC took data on the actual fuel the ECM was pushing through the injectors compared to the odometer so one would think that was pretty accurate if the odometer is accurate. Someone else recently posted here that the EVIC only keeps data on the last few hundred miles not a running total. That makes sense to me as it is not as though the data is being stored on a 150 gig HD. So that too would impact the reading you are getting if the calculation period were less or more than the time it took between refills.

Agreed about odometer errors......I figured out roughly that mine was showing about 6% less than actual.

I read on a different forum some time ago that the EVIC is sort of a rolling average of the past 60 miles driven. It seems that it was an European owner on the Edmunds forum that stated this who was fairly knowledgeable about the vehicle. Who knows? I just know that I'm jealous of my wife's 2008 Suzuki XL7 which has its EVIC read within 0.2 mpg of actual regardless of driving conditions and it seems to average over an indefinite time period.

I've noticed that if I driven a trip that's literally all highway that it's pretty close to actual...maybe .5 mpg too high. If it's a mix of city and highway, all bets are off and it usually overestimates by 2-3 mpg, and there seems to be a slightly greater discrepancy in the winter versus the summer. My odometer is reads 6% too low while the speedometer reads about 5% too high.

Yep, my odometer is 6% low.Still the EVIC is 20% off when the milage is corrected.30.1 mpg verses 25.5mpg.So maybe that last 60 miles thing is true.I drive 57 miles one way to work and fillup after work.
