So as you might have read from my other post, i had a bit of a jeep wrench-a-thon this weekend, here's a few pics from friday and saturday->sunday morning

--
a little something showed up at my friends house that I had ordered, this is what started the whole weekend around friday at 2pm :D
Image

while changing my oil, i accidentally dropped the oil filter and made a little mess, well that and my friend failed to tell me that there were already 6 quarts, not 5 in the drain pan...

instead of using towels i dropped my skid plate

the gift from the UPS man in it's installed state

Here's the first cb antenna rack mount I put together friday

Image
Image

it was too long to fit inside the rack rubbermaid by about half an inch  but the hole i drilled in the rack rail was intentionally put in a place where I could change the mount to a double plate clamp had it not worked, the open hole you see in the mount is a hole i drilled through the mount to line up with the hole in the rack rail for the twist down rack rail hold down screw, the bolt you see through is a hole i drilled through both the mount and the rail

here's the second mount, which is what I went with, on the bottom side of the rack you can see the edges of the bottom plate, once clamping it down, i couldnt twist it back at all so it's quite sturdy, it ended up actually not needing the ground, oh.. and putting it on the roof rather than on the rear gate completely got rid of the ignition noise and boosted the range about 300% :D

Image

here's a pic from earlier in the day saturday (before the cb antenna)
sparkplugs and service on the wrangler, 2 idler/tensioner pullys, belt and service on the grand cherokee

Image

around midnight after we decided to move the wrangler to the back yard and set up heat lamps with flood lights to put in a new valve cover gasket and fix some vaccume lines

Image

this poor girl didn't quite understand why there were 2 moderately inebriated guys in the back yard garage in 25 degree weather at 2 oclock in the morning, laughing and cutting up while working on her favorite beach cruiser

Image

last pic of the valve cover job, the sun was comming up, my friend was falling asleep standing up, so i took the opportunity to rid his wranglers front bumper of the plastic knots on the end of the bumper, something i had wanted to do ever since he bought it about a year and a half ago..

Image

last pic i took, this afternoon while cleaning up the 2 previous day's aftermaths, the wilson flex-4 whip is hard to pick up clearly on my camera, it looks good i think, for a whip ontop of the jeep i'm not too worried about it breaking, i can grab it and bend it all the way back to the rear of the jeep with little effort, i think i'm going to get a different quick disconnected though, it rocks just a tad

Image

oh yeah, and the dog is clearly exausted..

Image

and so am I

i got it from www.4x4rockshop.com their rockcrusher for the 8.25 was like 12 dollars more than the cheepest i was able to find, but.. the cheeper vendor didn't carry lubelocker seals and charged for shipping

4x4rockshop didnt charge for shipping for the cover, just charged me shipping for the lubelocker seal which was naturally sent in a separate box

its only been on 2 days but i havent had any seepage what so ever, the seal is supposivly reuseable, i figured after taking it off the 2nd time it would probably start to seep a little like rtv naturally does after awhile

but.. at 17 bucks it's not really any more expensive than a couple tubes of rtv if you get atleast 2 or 3 uses out of it and it was definatly easier to put on, i'm kinda impressed with the seal, very high quality item assuming it works long term! but just at first impression i was very impressed with it, and it's rather tacky too, i didnt even have to use any dabs of rtv to get it to stick when installing the cover, and for the sticker guru's the seal came with a sticker, the rockcrusher didn't

the other place i found the diff cover at charged like 97 bucks for the cover but charged shipping for the cover and didn't carry the seal so instead of paying for shipping for the 2 items from 2 different places i just went with 4x4rockshop, overall i think it came out about the same if not slightly cheeper
