Just trying to figure out if I will be getting what I expect. I am shooting for the OME HD Coils, so I expect to see about 2.5", based on other users opinions. Next I am getting 235/85/16 which is a 32" tire. Currently my stock 235/70/16, are about a 29" tire I believe. The difference is of course 3". Since half of that 3" goes to a increase of height, then add that to my 2.5" lift and I'm looking at a new height of 4" added clearance. Only 1.5" at the diffs of course. This all right?

I don't think you will get 32's on there with just the OME spring and not have serious rubbing.

You are right, the lift does nothing to your height at the diff. Only the increased tire size you can fit on there due to the lift matters. Measuring clearance to the bottom of the diff. is the standard measure of front nad, as you pointed out, you would net 1.5" there.

The additional lift does aid in your breakover, approach, & departure angles + the good thing of the taller tires. 4" is a common number reported for the increase at say, axle center line to bottom of flair or frame rail to ground.

There are a few here with jsut OME that are running 235/85/16. The beuty of those tires is, they are narrow, so less rubbing. I'm sure there will be some trimming, but not a incredible ammount. But, I've yet to see it on my rig, so, I have a bit of sceptic myself. Gonna try it though :twisted:

I was just going by my 245/75/16's, which are only protude 5mm more into the inside of the wheel well, yet are at least a full inch shorter. On stock rims and using an "ome + spacer" lift* that is the norm, I had to trim the splash guard. Looking around mine, I don't think I would clear the front sway bar & stuff if I added up to 3/4" of tire while losing at least .5" of lift. A less aggressive tire with a more rounded shoulder than an MT/R or such might help. I hope it works well for you and look forward to the pics.

Well the sway bar will rub away any parts of the tire that don't clear it, honestly it will just be the inside of the tire, not really going to be a big deal.... from what I see it anywho.


The problem with internet forums is everyone has there own opinion :? I've been told now that they will, they wont, they will, and they wont fit. I have the same problem for my lift, I need new front shocks immediatly, I can wait 6 mo to get them, I need them immediatly, I can wait 6 mo. I'm gonna have to just try this crap on my own. I will likely lift without them, and get the tires I want. If they dont fit, I wll have to put my winters back on, and get a way to lift higher.

Add a 3/8" clevis lift to your front and one upper rear spring isolator for extra clearance for the 32's.
Don't forget to add at least a 3" bumpstop to the rear spring perch or you will rip your rear flares off when flexing!
Rubber Mallet heads work, are cheap and can be easily cut to size and drilled or hockey pucks.
Ditch your rear swaybar when you do the rear lift for maximum rear flex.
Pound pinch weld and you may have to heat and push some plastic around the fog light area.

Use a torque wrench and tighten all bolts to spec, to avoid future problems with noises. Torque specs. should be in the tech section.

The mistake here is a very common one: you are asking questions three times in three different ways and are wondering why you are getting different answers. You have asked about various tire sizes & type, so again the answer changes. Now you are willing to go with new rear shocks, but not fronts. So again, the answers change in response to what you state. It is a common internet situation.

Go back through your various threads about which direction you wanted to take at that time, settle on one course of action ( lift/tiresize/ shock replacement) and stick with it. Until you know what you want ( and are willing to stick with it) you will not get anywhere and your build-up will languish. It happens thousands of times in modding a vehicle.
