I've got 245/70/16 Wrangler Silent Armors and I love them! Quiet on the highway, great wet and dry/mud traction, they grip the rocks well. Nothing to complain about at all. I read a comparison between them and the MT/R recently and the tires tied :)

Djui5, can you elaborate on which areas of comparison the two tires “tied” in? Obviously, they didn’t compare in mud terrain. So what types of terrain did they tie in? There’s a lot of people who like the silent armors, but I’m a little perplexed as to why they seem to be such a good off-road tire when their tread-pattern seems to show otherwise.

Just, got five new DAKOTA DEFINITY MUD (aka COOPER tire) tires. I went a little big 265/75/16E, had to trim inner fender wells to get all of my flex and travel, but not bad!!!
The tires have some sing to them when driving, but they really performed well this weekend in ATTICA in the mud and sand/small ponds and water.
I paid around $670.00 and had a friend mount and balance . I gained some height as well, but I think a 4.10 ring and pinion swap is in my future to regain some bottem end and MPG!!!

What size ProComps were you looking at?

I am running LT245/75R16 Silent Armor Imageand very happy with the performance. I think for my needs the LT was overkill and I will most likely get the same tire again only in a "P" rated which will be less weight.

A close second might be this P255/70R16 -

Everyones needs are different, ours is an A/T that is quiet with very good on road dry, rain and snow traction that sees occasional off road use.

I was thinking about going with a Narrower Tire in the Pro-Comp A/T 225/85/16. I actually had mounted some wheels with 31/10.50/16 Baja Claws at the shop at work looked cool enough.... No one seems too be running Claws here either. I'm going to add tires when I Lift VERY SOON.

Also another Option I am Highly considering is running a set of Mickey Thompson Baja Claws. SpiderTrax Spacers, Series 97 Pro Comp Wheels in a 15" size, and the lower load rated (C) 31X10.50R15LT Mickey Thompson Baja Claw. No one elses Liberty I've seen on here has them on it. (Haven't Looked all that Hard has them) If you run them Review???

I thought there was a white KJ with them, or used to run them. Check in the rig of the month section, I think he entered like a beach pic of his KJ with them on it. They are supposed to be a horrific ride from what I have heard but perform off road.

I am running 235/70/16 Mastercraft Courser-AT2.

had them for bout 20k now, just rotated them and i still have a decent amount of tread left.

They handle decent in the snow, mud and dirt.

Im running 31x10.5r15 Mickey Thompson Baja Claws on Soft 8s and I love em they are pretty good in all conditions except snow and they make my liberty look really beefy and wide compared to the 245/75r16s I had before them. Id recommend going 31x10.5 on a 15 inch wheel to anyone looking to swap tires/wheels

Yeah INC. He was on the Beach.... Surfboards and all. They look real good. But some say they work good others say they work Poorly. A friend of mine came to the shop at my work and Ordered 4 for his YJ today. I'll see what he says after they are mounted.

Well, I'm not that poster.... but my TJ has Wrangler Silent Armors on (10.5x31x15)... got them to provide good highway and occasional off-road. They are great on the highway. And frankly they would tie with a set of bagels for off-road. Contrary to what everyone anticipated looking at them, they cleaned poorly in mud/clay, lacked enough sidewall bite to dig in well aired down.
I expect to put a set on my KJ within about 6 months, and I'm sure I'll be happy with them as a highway tire. But off-road? Nope. Not a chance (unless you think off-road means parking on the grass or driving on the gravel). I wouldn't even take them down a logging road, although they'd probably do alright at that.

Why in God's name would you use wheel spacers with that wheel/tire combo?

I can't find the article. Wish I could remember where I saw it. I think it was one of the Jeep mags online or something. I read it online though. They tied in a couple things, and the Silent Armour won in road noise. Overall they both tied scores. Mud went to the MT/R. Wet traction went to the SA. Can't remember the rest. The SA is really a good tire, and I use them wheelin all the time. Never have any problems outside of my lack of articulation :) They are also quiet on the road, which is important to me cuz I drive my Liberty to work everyday.

We don't have a lot of mud here in Phoenix so I'm not too concerned with mud traction, and I don't do rock crawling so I'm not too concerned with sidewall grip either. I did run them right up against a rock once and didn't hurt the sidewall at all.

Anyway, just wanted to share what I'm running. I really like em.
