Flowmaster!

I put on a 40 series yesterday, and i just thought i would mention i didnt feel any gain in torque. I wasnt expecting to but i remember there being a thread on weather or not you could "feel the differance between mufflers" also I was a little skeptical as to how it would sound, but i am happy with it. BTW I only put it on because it was free.

theres a bottleneck either before or after the cats dont remember which, could help to find and get rid of it if its an easy fix, saw it during mike(inc)'s and some of the other fellas muffler discussion

I couldnt really tell a difference in torque.. Maybe just a tad but I cut all the bottle necks out and such.. Straight pipe from the cats to the muffler.

MPG didnt change any at all that I can tell..

i just dont think a muffler has the ability to change the torque that much, unless you have an extremely restrictive muffler.

well.. our oem mufflers weren't exactly.. free flowing hehe

put mine ontop of a mountain and turned it into a gong..

jk haven't actually replaced mine yet, it isnt QUITE done rotting out yet!

my muffler increased my low end torque. the k&n filter helped a little to

I need to either get the K&N cold air, or just get a snorkel.....

get a snorkel with an amsoil, K&Ns are not worth it, for the minimal gain in HP, and MPG, your sacrificing engine life. K&Ns get so much air flow, because there filter elements have something like 5x bigger microns for air (and dirt) to flow through.

Sheesh, again with the amsoil :roll:

Nothing against the product but I don't see a big enough advantage possible got the cost. Maybe the filters are different, but the oil must be made of snakes blood... or snake oil :evil:

I'm just joking around, don't mean to bash your product, but, I have yet to been truly educated why over $60 a oil change is that much more of a advantage (FYI that price is JUST for oil)...

Like I said, maybe there filters are different though, not made of gold :S

I havent personally used it yet, but I trust the guys on LOST who vouch for it. even if you use a paper filter, i would stay away from K&N but thats my opinion. also amsoils website has some good information on what makes the filter differant from others, and no its not snake oil.

and if your looking for a cold air intake, i dont think you can do much better than a snorkle.

Oh I trust the guys here too, and not everyone uses it. I do belive its a great oil, though I won't take the manufactures word for it, thats like trusting a car salesman, they are selling you a product, if they sell more, they make more money, so they lie. Again, I'm not saying its not the best stuff ever, but I am saying I'm not spending over $70 on a oil change (over $60 on oil + tax, then the filter). Maybe if it was the only oil change I do all year

amsoil drop in air filters will go 100,000 miles with just a vacuuming or air blow cleaning when you change your oil. It's really a 1 time purchase so you do the math.
Oil and filter changes can last you 10,000 miles so again...you do the math and see if it works for you.

Alright, air filter aside, lets do the math for the ansoil oil...

I just paid $15 for a jug of cheap old castrol oil, non synthetic, and for a free fram oil filter. Lets not get into the fram oil filter debate, I had enough of that last night with my local jeep club meeting lol. Since its standard oil, I change ever 5k, lets assume that means I change very 2 months. $15 per change x 6 months = $90 a year in oil and filter changes. Now, lets assume that I get a amsoil filter oil filter free with there oil. It costs me $60 just to get enough amsoil oil. Every 10k, so thats $60 every 4 months. $60 per change, x 3 months = $180 a year in oil changes. I did the math, is twice what I pay now. And as it was kindly pointed out by a member of my jeep club, because of the ammount of salt they use in nova scotia for the winters, plus the ammount of salt in the air from the ocean (yes, there is that much) than my vehicle will rust out before I blow a engine due to cheap oil... I did the math, did you? :roll:

I never said anything about the air filter being a bad investment... The entire time I said I'm sure there air filters are a different story than there oil. I just don't feel right investing in a company that rips me off for oil then expects me to trust there other products.

I havent really researched much into synthetics, but the way I see it, all synthetic oils are expensive.

They are, but there are some cheaper ones. Amsoil seems to be the big daddy of them all though. I guess if I was changing the oil in my bently, than yah, I would blow the extra money, but since its my jeep, and these things ran on non-synthetic for decades, than I expect I should be alright without the magic $70 amsoil oil change.
