(1) I was on this website ordering my clear turn signals....and I came accros this intake. It comes with a K&N filter, shows to be the same pipe angles as the $250 K&N intake system but for $75 instead. I'm thinking there is really not much difference between the two, and I'd rather pay $75 than $250. What does everyone think? Maybe there is something I am missing?

(2) And what is the aluminum piece just above the hose for?

(3) And I was looking at my stock intake, and i can't see where any sensor hose would be relocated. So i'm wondering why the hose is there, and the holes are on the aluminum intake pipe.

The aluminum peice above the hose is for mounting purposes.

Not to high jack this forum but I would also like to know the difference between air intake systems like Rustys & K&N and some of the other ones you see on EBay and other places. Is there really that much difference in them and there performance? I know some of the parts are a little different but the price change $20-200.00+ is unreal. Can some one help on this topic!

One of the main differences is the K&N comes with a heat sheild to help keep engine heat away. Others can say more...

Also i you have an 05 the 04 FIPK will fit. Pics on the site somewhere and if needed I can post some.

If you get this kit, fab up a heat shield, no sense in having a cold air intake that sucks in hot air.

The filter shown is not the same as the K&N kit, I'm betting smaller. Looking at the rubber sleeve/connector on the left side appears to be tapered. This suggests a more restrictive path. As mentioned no heat shield or rubber gasket to seal the heat shield to the hood. I would suspect the K&N mounting bracket is more solid and flexible

when i added a OEM style K&N I gained 30 miles to the tank. Thats like getting 2 free gallons of gas and at $2.50 a gallon its $5 every time I fill up. I fill up once a week so thats $20 a month. After two months the filter has paid for itself. 10,000 miles on my K&N and I wash everytime I am in mud. Great product. Can't notice the power though...
