i think i'll always be wary of box lockers after my experience with the detroit locker in my cheyenne, but that cheyenne had problems other than the locker, i think i went through 9 or 10 sets of pinons/rings. usually it was the pinion that broke

ontop of that i always had to have a spare set of ujoints and a driveshaft in the bed

Unless it is the ez-locker, the thing actually called the Detroit Locker is a full replacement case locker.

if it is te Detroit locker it is not a lunch box and I would have to say that the DL is one of the BEST lockers you can buy!

that's exactly the point i was trying to get across guys, i'll be warry of any box locker because of the bad experiences i had with the detroit locker in my cheyenne (which wasn't a box locker)

now you get what i meant?

wouldn't you consider a box locker lesser than the detroit?

thus the warryness

i broke too many components to account for including trashing the locker but i was absolutley brutal to that truck

but, had i had anything else it probably would have been every few days instead of averaging more like once a month

the driveshafts on the other hand.. well like i said i carried a spare in the bed of the truck

it's ok jsc

i know sometimes i can be confusing, i was adjusting the steering stops on my friends wrangler and refering to them as bump stops the whole time, knew what i was doing! just what was comming out of my mouth wasn't quite right

too many concusions i claim (even though i've always been like this)

i'm self aware of it and that I do it, i think thats one of the reasons why i normally never get upset when someone corrects me lol

So I've perused a few pages of this massive thread...and I'm just confused.

What's the final virdict on the Aussie for the 8.25? I'm seriously considering using my last bit of KJ money to get one, but I certainly don't have the money for something that's going to give me trouble with my otherwise trouble-free rear end.

Anybody have any long term milage on one of these?

i've got about 8K on mine since the install. all is well so far. seems alot quieter and locks/unlocks more seamless with regular 75-140 lube instead of the synthetic stuff. i started with synthetic after the install but the front seal started leaking so i switched back to regular and 95% of the noise went away immediately as well as the seal leak.

Having only driven a powertrax'd KJ on the street, not really.

The powertrax is quieter, but does not seem to lock as positively.

Just wondering, so you can't run syn in this lunchbox? Is anyone / everyone else in agreement?
