OK, this is weird. HF didn't have the "46030", so I ran down to Wal-Mart to try a scanner I saw there a week or two ago. It is an Innova.
Got home, let the Lib sit for an hour or so while I perused the forum (I'm still trying to figure out all the different alphabetical abbreviations - what the heck is ORM?) I went out to the garage and plugged it in, turned the key, and - voila! - four codes pop up, one for turbo underboost, one for EGR, one for ABS, and another I can't remember.
I can't remember because I unplugged the scanner, came back inside to look up the codes on the "Tech Only" forum. Deduced that they had to do with the CCV and EGR sooting up the sensors, so I went back to the garage to clear the codes to turn off the CEL. I plug it back in, turn the key, and now it says "No DTC's are stored in the Engine Computer." Huh? Tried to look up the former on freeze frame, but it's gone.
I ran out to a friend's house, about a 20 minute drive away, and left it plugged in the whole time. It kept scanning and saying the same thing - no codes. When I drove home, I turned off the engine in the garage and plugged it in, then immediately turned the key back to on - and it gives me the turbo underboost code again.
What is going on here?
Some scanners can only read codes when the engine is off, but the key is on.
