Has anyone plucked up the courage yet and installed vents on their bonnet/ hood to cool the oven down a bit or is this purely cosmetical crap.

The reason i ask this question is because my bonnet is dented at the moment and needs to be replaced. I thought of striking a deal with the insurers and have the old bonnet repaired and asking the panelbeater to fit a vent.

Yep I installed vents on my hood from here--http://www.raceace.com/index.html.

They did drop the underhood temps and via my live data recorder my IAT temps also dropped about 30 degrees and my coolant temps have dropped about 8 degrees.I did not check before/after underhood temps though.I can tell you you can not touch the vents,or hardly hold your hand close, after the engine is fully warmed up since they are venting alot of hot air, more so when the electric fan kicks on.

I opted to use stainless steel button head bolts instead of the supplied rivets, took about 2 hours to install.
