Why the windshield tie downs?? I thought the hard top wasn't removable. I'm not crazy about it. The front end looks ... dumb.

The hard top is modular and removable, as they also will have a sunrider softtop (it has a sunroof like the current Unlimited softtop.)

The 3.8L is the same engine DC uses in their minivans and the Chrysler Pacifica.

Aside from the 3.8L (but I'll hold off final judgement on that till I drive one) I think it looks and sounds pretty darn nice. I'd kill for an electronic disconnecting front swaybar. And the modular hard top would be awesome. The biggest down side to the hard top has always been the difficulty in removing it when a nice day comes along. Now you won't have to; just pull the windows out, take the doors off and enjoy the weather!

Proposed engine was a bigger 4.0L version of the 3.7L V-6.

Looks just O.K. it will grow on me I'm sure. Not a big fan of the 18'' wheels tho I dont know why newer trucks are coming out with these huge wheels that the tire mans. cant keep up with.

I stand corrected. On the '07 the lockers are electric not air.

I like it! I didn't think I would, but hey.... It's still too small for me and all of my stuff, but at least it looks good. Today, DCX drove it though the front doors (Right through the glass) down at the NAIAS to introduce it. That was a very interesting method.

I like it. Once the kids get their own rigs, I might go shopping. Only a couple more years to go.

Good call waiting a few years. There will be no diesel option until at least the 2007 1/2 or 2008 time period since there is no deployment of Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel yet.

I love my diesel, but it's a ticking time bomb waiting for the EGR valve to clog because of the current sulfur in the diesel. It's clear that the Liberty CRD is the test mule before a massive deployment of the engine across their product line. Luckily, I'll probably only need 1 fix by the time ULSD gets on the market.

I know that kind of worries me, they are not going to get any cheaper. I just wonder how much a 4-Door CRD Rubicon will go for? 35-36k? Throw in TTL and you are at 39k before any rebates if any will be offered. That seem darn expensive for just a wrangler. You can get a nice new truck or something for about (29k) and a used TJ to play with (8k) for that price. Or a CRD KJ and a nice used TJ.
