Welcome to AZ LOST Jeeps!! Glad to see you made it over. Yeah, the Mojave Road trip has the makings of a fun adventure. We still have a few things to iron out, but we'll keep everyone informed. One of the biggest things to plan for is at least an extra 5 gallons of gas.

Don't be a stranger and post up anytime.

AJ

No, I'm hosting another run/camping trip the same weekend with another group I belong to. Can't wait to go in May, I've wanted to go on that one for a while.

Okay... I've posted this run on another group I've made a run with. They are the PHX E.V. 4x4 Group, a good bunch of people, with the same values that we have here on AZ LOST Jeeps. They like to get out on the trails (nothing really hardcore) and they like to do runs that include camping. Maybe we'll have some new goblins to attend our Trick or Jeep camping/chili fest in Oct.

I hope to see some more of them on this trip!!

Wells rates it difficult, AZBC rates it a 3.5+, not quite hardcore, but almost. Stock Jeeps have made it with some scraping. A lot has to do with the driver's skills and good spotters.

Now back to regular programing ----> the Mojave Road Trip.

I will have to get my plans to you last minute as I am unsure about work so far. Count me as a maybe + 2 and let me know when my last chance to say yay or neigh is.

Surprise!!! Beth and I ran the "Mojave Road" yesterday!!! Well, at least part of it.

We were up in Kingman doing some trails the last couple of days. We finished the Hualapai Mountains (Wells #13) early yesterday afternoon. The trail ends at exit 25 on I-10. So... since we were only 60 miles from the begining of the Mojave Road East (Wells #24) we decided to head up there to see what we are in store for come May when we run it with AZ LOST.

We drove 8 miles into the trail. It looks like it's going to be an interesting and fun trip!!! Can't wait. Is it May yet???

Here are some pics I took of the trail....

I can't wait to be semi-retired. AJ YOU STINK!!! :)

Way neat, love the pics. I'm stoked so much now. I feel like being sick so i can tinker on the trailer. So looks like the first 8 miles were pretty easy to follow the track. How'd the GPS track that you downloaded follow the rd?

Mike... that will be the "last" 8 miles since we're running west to east. :P But yeah, from what I've been reading, the trail is pretty easy and no challeges along the way. The biggest thing is not to get stuck in the sand (something some people I know do very easily).

As for route finding and GPS... there were a couple of 6-way intersections that the carins were missing or hard to see and I had to make an uneducated guess. The first part of the trail between waypoints 1~3 Garmin couldn't follow. Hope someone is good at reading trail directions from the books in reverse!! :D

JJ... I have that gut feeling you'll be running the entire trail with us. At least I hoping you can.

AJ

We're counting down the days!!!

Beth and are are getting pretty excited about this trip, scratch that... adventure is a better word!! I have all the waypoints loaded into Garmin. Mike, ya gonna do the same with Jim-Jim? I'll need all the help I can get reading the trail directions in reverse since we're running in the opposite direction from how all the guide books are written.

Come on folks, there's always room for more and this has all the makings of a really great adventure!! We planned this for a long holiday weekend so it would be easier for people to attend. Take off an extra day (Friday) and it'll give you time to drive out to Barstow, do the trail and drive home on Monday.

Here's the list of desert explorers who've signed on... you "maybe" guys need to upgrade to definite, you know you want to do this trip!! :D

A word of caution...from someone who's been there. If there is ANY rain/sprinkles It would be a wise choice to stay away from the Soda Dry Lake. That was 2 or 3 hours of fun :)
