if you have a copy of the signed paperwork than I believe then can't.

they told me on saturday that warrantee would cover a pinion seal and pinion yoke. i took my jeep in at 7:30 this morning. signed the repair paper work, and went to the enterprise to get the rental car. at 10:30 they called and said they wont cover it because the diff fluid was yellow. since they already dumped the fluid i would have to pay them for the new fluid any way. this isnt right. there has to be some law about this crap because they are now going to charge me 500 to get the parts put on.

Do you have it in the paper work that it is covered under warranty? Or does the paper work just say they are checking your jeep and it might require work to be done, not necessarily under your coverage? Was the covered "under warranty" assurance, just what someone told you?

yellow?

Well my fluid is PURPLE

tell them you don't care what color the f'ing fluid is, to replace the seal and stfu as they said they would

If the fluid is yellow its probably because it sucked water through the worn out pinion seal during normal driving in the rain

they don't need to know you've probably had the rear end submerged a couple times

when you go back to argue with them, remind them it's yellow because of the bad pinion seal that they said theyed cover

then take your rental to autozone or advanced and get 2 bottles of royal purple and make them put that in after they've replaced the seal

RP is better than the bulk crap they use anyway

yellow would be an indication of water in the oil

- they're saying that you abused it by getting it in water

however the owners manual says it can cross standing water of 20 inches

if the pinion seal was leaking it might have pulled some in

They agreed to change the seal - argue that it was the problem.

And argue with the service manager. If you get no where with him, demand to see the General Manager and then the dealership owner if need be.

Ultimately you may need this info Chrysler Customer Relations.

Matt...they are changing the pinion seal...the fluid has nothing to do with that issue. Tell them if any thing else, the fluid is yellow cause water got in there due to the worn out seal. If you got paperwork, then tell them they can talk to your lawyer about not covering it.
By the way...how's the lift working out?

If you don't have it in black and white that the repair is covered under warranty and you signed the authorization for the work you are kinda stuck, even with a lawyer since there is no physical evidence of said warranty. You will spend more on the lawyer then the repair bill anyway.Oh and by the way since you signed the authorization for the work if you do not pay you do not get the KJ back period since that paper with your signature is a legal binding contract.

At this point i really dont care. just az i was starting to like my jeep again, some bull happens. im one more of these incidents away from never buying another chrysler product again. i could give a darn about the seal if its going to cost me $500 unexpectedly. the could put a piece of cardboard in there and save me another jeep related unexpected expense. what i cant get is how josh treats his wrangler like sh it and hasnt had one problem. i get all my fluids and maintenance stuff done on time, everytime but my jeep is in the shop once a month a week at a time

You should really invest in a haynes manual or a chilton for your liberty. Working on axles and seals is actually easier think, and a haynes manual with take you through the process step by step. Some basic tools and some patience goes a long ways.
